I’m currently enrolled in Napa Valley college and want to transfer to UCLA or UCB, if not, then UCI is my third pick. Anyway, my question is can I declare a second major after I trasnfer? My major is Chemistry and I really want to add Latin since I’m fascinated with it and it would enhance my understanding on chemistry. What do I do? Do they (UCLA, Cal, and UC Irvine) let me add it after I transfer? Will it be an issue?

If you have all the pre-reqs completed for the Latin major and your GPA is equivalent to the incoming Latin major transfers then, yes, it is absolutely possible. Just petition to the language department, upon arrival at the UC, to add on Latin as a double major.

If you don’t have the pre-reqs completed for the Latin major then you can complete these at the UC. After you complete them, simply petition to add Latin on as a double major. Again, you will need to keep your GPA up, but want you want to do is definitely possible.
