where did you get accepted? College of Letters and Sciences or engineering?

college of letters and sciences

You will have to talk to the engineering department to see if they will allow you to double major.

However UCLAs policy on double majoring in most cases is that before declaring a double major you have to complete ALL preqs for both majors and 2 upper division courses in both majors b4 they let you declare the doubles. However in your case you will run into the problem of actually getting into the engineering school to begin with. You need to contact engineering now and ask them what steps to take to double major with a major in their college. It would be much easier if it was within the same college. Engineering is more difficult to get accepted into than College of letters and sciences.

hey how can you double major at UCLA or any other UC?

What do you mean by "how "

If your question is of “technicalities” then you have to go and file a petition at the counseling office.

So for UCLA- as an undergraduate you go to counseling in Murphy Hall after you completed all the prequisites for both majors and 2 upper division courses in each major and meet with a counselor. They will ask you to make an educational plan of sorts and fill out a petition - then they review it and if it is approved your DPR (degree progress report) on the online system gets updated stating both majors and what you have left to complete for both majors.

is it complicated? seems hard by your description. has anyone done this before?

a bunch of people do it. At ucla i believe when we were the entering class the statistic was that about 30% of transfers double major.

If you want to major in both, remember to complete your prereqs first, then you can meet the department head and contact them if you will be able to double major. Also double majoring in these majors are a lot of units. You need to make sure you don’t go over the unit max

so…if ur double majoring, can’t u get unit extensions because u double majoring…plus, engineering takes more units

anybody have any detailed info/specifics regarding doing biz econ and adding on engineering after transferring???

thx all

For engineering you may get a slight unit extension. Not much.

Contact Engineering department and see if you can apply. Usually you have to get accepted into engineering 1st, then college of L&S once in UCLA already

Here is from the website information

Minors and double majors
Besides the Environmental Engineering minor, there are no engineering minors and no double majors involving two majors in HSSEAS.
For double majors with one HSSEAS major and one L&S major, the primary major must be in HSSEAS.
A student whose current major is in L&S would change to HSSEAS and then request a double major, or one of the minors offered in L&S. See more at the HSSEAS FAQ.

[HSSEAS OASA | Change of Major](http://www.seasoasa.ucla.edu/current/change.html)

Is it possible to double major or earn a minor? top of page

HSSEAS students in good academic standing may be permitted a double major or minor. The second major or minor must be outside HSSEAS (e.g. Electrical Engineering major and Economics major). HSSEAS students are not

permitted to double major with two HSSEAS majors (e.g. Chemical Engineering and Civil Engineering). You may file an Undergraduate Request to Double Major or Add Minor form at the Office of Academic and Student Affairs (OASA), 6426 BH. HSSEAS determines final approval of a double major or minor request - review is done on a case by case basis, filing the request does NOT guarantee approval. Go to the following [Undergraduate Minor Codes](http://www.registrar.ucla.edu/Dept/minor.htm) for a list of possible minors. While HSSEAS will consider double major or minor requests, specializations are not considered at this time. If you are interested in a double major or minor you should meet with your OASA Counselor.

i wanna double major in film production or animation or acting.

two of those

i went to the assist website and they show nothing for film and theatre. so i went to my c.c. transfer office and they told me that it means that they only want the GEs done. so what would i have to do? after i transfer?

[UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television](http://www.tft.ucla.edu/)

First of all, animation is for Masters There is no BA in animation.
Second the school of theatre film and media studies works differently from L&S

You need to contact the school and atleast look at the above website.
Their admission rate is less than 4 %.

TO apply you have additional essays and interviews. look around on that website or this one

[Admissions | Undergraduate Film | UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television](http://www.tft.ucla.edu/programs/undergraduate-film/admissions/)

Unless you have a ridiculous amount of AP credit, it will be impossible.

jw. i’m a cc student. can i major in philosophy and then upon transferring to ucla. decide to double major in econ/bus econ?

Maybe. You should get accepted into Biz econ, then double with philosophy. Not the other way around. Econ department is very difficult to enter if you did not get accepted into it to begin with.

bump, anyone?

Didn’t that answer your question? It seemed spot-on.

it does answer my question for ucla though. thanks WHAT ABOUT UCBERKELEY? the admissions rate for economics at both schools is around 13 percent.thats like chosing 1 person out of 10 ppo! thats too low!

Berkeley doesnt accept that way.

Berkeley accepts by subject area, like Social Sciences accepts X amount. where as UCLA accepts by major.

unless things changed this year?
