double majoring in biology and chemistry

Let’s say I want to double major in those fields… what would my first quarter schedule look like and how possible is it to graduate in four years?

doesn’t ucla have a biochem major? i’m not sure but you should look into it if ur interested in both bio and chem cause finishing one major is less hectic than two

…especially because sciences are insane at UCLA

biochem is not a combination of biology and chemistry… its quite different

Does anybody know what the percentage of double majors is, of the entire student population at UCLA?

I think about 10-15% of the student population are double-majors.
The most popular double-majors are Political Science/History and Languages/History.

okay, i think this double major is crazy!

first of all, WHYY?!?!?!

second of all, i dont know if they will let you do that.

that brings me to three: the lower division classes are basically the same. chem, life science, and physics. GEs are the same. depends on how much the upper divisions overlap. if they overlap too much, i dont think they will let you double major. they’re not going to give you two degrees if you have to take almost the exact same requirements to fulfill both majors. there is no two for one special. ;)

the only differences btwn the lower div pre-reqs for bio and chem are two math class and the physics 1 series…

anyway, ookla, why do you want to double major in chem and bio? you can focus on the different aspects you want of either major once you get into upper divs if you were to major in biochem

A double major in biology and chemistry probably isnt too feasible… i know, but a better question is… if i want to double major in some science (probably both life sciences), what would my 1st/2nd year schedules look like and would it be possible to graduate in four years?

Is MIMG and EEB more feasible?

Another fyi…

You can’t double major in the same department and the majors can’t have more than 6(?) overlapping upper divison courses.

ok if ur premed just take the premed req’s first because most lifescience majors have these as LD reqs anyways. then decide.
