I have heard that this is an idea that a lot students like and go into college in mind with, but end up realizing it is almost impossible. Is this true?

I was thinking of double majoring in Psychology and Education, but I dont know if one would be better than the other in terms of overall job placement etc. Im just really interested in both fields

Dont pick a major because of money. Double majoring is hard. Make sure that you really like both subjects. If youre talking about overall job placement, however, Psych will get you more. Teachers dont get paid much, unless you teach at some private institutions.

I know a lot of people who double major, especially with their second major in the College because a lot of those have less requirements. You just have to be aware of what you need to take to complete the major. If you know already that you want to study in those fields, then completing them shouldn’t be that hard, as long as you stay on top of your courses. You may need to take a few summer courses or overload past 16 to finish on time, though.

Lol…nope. I’m not fully bilingual, and I don’t think Cantonese is one of the languages offered. I have studied French though, maybe I could bypass some of the introductory courses.

They do offer chinese as a language, but I don’t particularly know any more about that (mandarin, cantonese, level of writing proficiency expected, etc)

Cantonese is such a major language, I can’t believe they wouldn’t try to be flexible. I know lots of guys I went to high school with (in the US) took chinese school on saturdays all the way from K-12. I would find it hard to believe all of those guys couldn’t take some placement test or such.

I think the Chinese offered is Mandarin, not Cantonese. My school tried setting up a Cantonese course for expat teachers and so far it’s going pretty badly because not even the teacher can remember what tones are being used XD

You don’t have to be fluent… you just need to pass the 3rd semester of language. So they may be willing to give you a test for Cantonese even though they don’t offer it… idk.
