Doubling up on AP Calculus AB and AP Stats?

Hi, I am a freshman currently enrolled in college-prep Pre-Calculus. I currently have a 92 (A-) in the course as of the end of the first semester… but I feel that I can raise my grade to a 93-94 with an upcoming chapter exam and finals in the next two weeks.

As long as I maintain my grades, I will be scheduled to take AP Calc AB as a sophomore. However, I would really like to add AP Stats to my schedule as well, to provide myself with an early foundation in statistics for college-level science.

I am not sure if this is a wise decision or not, given that I am enrolled in college-prep Pre-Cal. Three weeks into the semester, I dropped from Honors Pre-Cal due to the workload (getting used to a large workload in two other honors courses and two APs). Most kids in that course go onto Calc BC, but generally do not double up in mathematics due to the immense workload of the latter. However, I have heard that the Calc AB and Stats teachers at my school aren’t that tough when it comes to the workload. I still expect that taking both courses at the same time would be tough.

So, do you believe that it would be a good idea for me to double up on both of these courses? Any advice/recommendations are greatly appreciated.

They’re pretty different and it would be fine to take both at the same time.

It is totally OK to concurrently take AP Stat and AP Calc AB. In my case, I took AP Stat and precalc concurrently.
