Has anyone else seen it yet? Meryl Streep can start writing her acceptance speech…

I saw the play last year at the Flynn Center in Burlington, Vt. It is a very good play and was a finely performed. I hope the film is true to the stage play. And yes the title is very appropriate.

I saw it on Broadway and it was exquisite, so I’m glad to hear something good about the movie–all too easy to ruin something like this in translation.

The people we were with saw it on stage too and liked the movie equally well.

BTW it is in limited release at 15 theaters until 12/25. Flipping stations this morning a DC disk jockey said those 15 theaters took in more than some new animated movie playing at 2,000, which they said out was a bomb that out-Ishtared Ishtar…

H & I have been going to a regional theatre for over 10 years as subscribers.
(The theater won a Tony last year for best regional theater, so it is a good one)

Anyway, we saw Doubt last season and it was superb. Frankly, it was one of the most memorable plays we’ve seen in some time. Meryl Streep will be stunning as usual. The play, while intense, had many comic moments and didn’t feel too heavy. We can’t wait to see Streep playing off of Philip Seymour Hoffman. I’ve heard that it follows the play very closely (the playwright directed it, I believe).

When anyone here sees it, I’d love to hear your review. It may take us awhile to get to go.

Doubt is an excellent play, and a very good film. As much as I enjoyed Meryl Streep’s performance, I still prefer the Tony Award-winning performance of Cherry Jones onstage. I think that Viola Davis was superb in the film, and is the one to watch for an Oscar nomination.

I can’t wait to see this…I saw this as a duo interpretation at a forensics tournament…great storyline.
