I am possibly entertaining the idea of transferring to a large in state public university,UConn, saving $25,000 each year, in the process, getting a similar education, only without the same reputation and friends and great location. I go to a pretty respectable private school in Boston but I am interested in the entertainment industry and I am starting to realize that internships/work experience will matter more than where my degree comes from. I can worry less about the low pay that comes with working in the entertainment industry and have more opportunity to work unpaid internships, attend a grad school or get my mba without the $45,000 bill my private school requires. I don’t get any financial aid either. I would just hate to give up all the great things I have here at my school but I’m thinking it might be beneficial for my future. Also will I lose a lot with the downgrade in academic rep?

Not if you perform well. If money is a consideration & you think UConn would be a good fit & provide for more opportunities, then it makes sense.
