Downloading Music

Will I ever be caught if I download music from Frostwire, upload them to my Ipod, then delete the frostwire history and the file in my computer?

I mean the people who get caught don’t get caught because they have a ton of songs on their computer or ipod. They get caught because your IP address has a huge bandwidth use. They’re watching what you download, not what’s on your computer. So deleting it doesn’t matter. But with that being said I’ve never used Frostwire and have no idea what it is. But if its a P2P network and you don’t pay, then you have as good a chance of being caught as anyone else.

Pretty much what I said except with more technicalities and name drops:

This is why you guys should set up a dc++ program.

haha soon those will be just as risky as kazaa was

Have you used Ruckus? My college students use this and it is free for college students personal use on their computers…small semester fee for loading music (unlimited amount) on to a NON ipod mp3. They really like it. Tired of the whole trap with IPOD and ITUNES…

The only problem is that the artists featured in Ruckus are “unknown.”

danny125, you’ve obviously never used Ruckus then because there are a LOT of major artists on there, there are very few artists that don’t have a few albums, if not their entire discography on there.

Anyways, people still use crappy programs like frostwire? Jesus, I’ve been using bittorrent for about 3-4 years now and haven’t looked back.

bittorent?

Bottom line… don’t be surprised when you have to go to honor court/pay fines/etc. if you download illegally because they do look for and police people who are doing so.

UNC students getting caught downloading music is pretty common. The first time it happens you will get a letter from ITS telling you to delete the file, and I think they suspend your network privileges until they verify it has been deleted. If you get caught a second time, you’ll be charged with an honor code violation.
