Dr. Steve A. Kay Will Be New USC Dornsife Dean

<p>Dr. Steve Kay will be the new Dean of the USC Dornsife School of Letters, Arts and Sciences. Dr. Kay held the office of Dean of the Division of Biological Sciences and was the Richard Atkinson Chair of Biological Sciences at UCSD. He is also a Distinguished Professor of Cell and Developmental Biology. Professor Kay received his Ph.D. from the University of Bristol.</p>

<p>At UCSD Dr. Kay led an academic division of nearly 6,000 undergraduates, hundreds of graduate students, researchers and faculty spanning four major departments. He has published over 200 papers and is named by ISI as a highly cited scientist. Earlier in his career he served as the Director of Discovery Research at the Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation.</p>

<p>Among other honors and awards Dr. Kay is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, holder of the Chancellor’s Associates Faculty Award for Excellence in Research and a recipient of the Martin Gibbs Medal.</p>

<p>Professor Kay will hold the Anna H. Bing Dean’s Chair at Dornsife.</p>
