<p>OK our prof gave us a hand assignment to do it in class to see where we are in english comp. Write a short 1-2 page short double spaced essay on "“Character is what we do when no one is around to see us.” I made alot of mistakes and he made corrections on it that i have to apply in said document. I wrote it in pencial and tried to scan the rough draft but you can’t see it at all in a scan. So this is my draft thus far and trying to apply his corrections.</p>

“Character is what we do when no one is around to see us.”</p>
<p>The saying “Character is what we do when no one is around to see us”, says that what you do and your actions when no one is around determines a lot of your character. I was in a Laundromat and a mother was busy with three young children. At the card station she left an envelope with money in it on the machine. I picked it up and handed it to her instead of taking it and leaving. In general, “doing the right thing “, is something that should come natural to us and not be affected by time and circumstance.<br>
In the Laundromat it was easy to do the right thing. It felt good. There are times in life when situations are not so easy to figure out. </p>
<p>If we follow the Golden Rule and treat others the way we want to be treated this may help. We are supposed to be truthful but sometimes telling the truth is not the best thing. We all tell little white lies. We might tell someone their new haircut or clothing looks good. We were told there was a Santa. We hear lies everyday from politicians, government, and media. The biggest lies are often from people we should respect the most. Sometimes lies or half truths are told to prevent more destruction and damage as in cases where it would cause widespread panic. </p>
<p>It would be easy if everything were black and white. There are a lot of grey areas where the rules do not apply. At the end of the day you want to feel good about yourself and the decisions that you make. In a perfect uncomplicated world this would be easy. You do the best you can with what you’ve got and hope it’s OK.</p>
