Draft Tax Return?

Some of my schools have requested my legal guardian’s tax return by March 1. She typically does not have her taxes done that early (she has a one person LLC) and her accountant is a tax attorney and could not finish them by them. He works mostly with small and medium sized businesses and she does not have all of her receipts done yet.

My question is: is it possible to submit a tax return now without that information. Typically her business runs in the red and reduces her tax liability but you never know until you work it out.

We were not prepared that she would have to have the return done and there is no way for her to finalize her return in a week.

I’m unclear as to what to do.

You are going to have to wait for the real thing. Call the schools to let them know.

Her accountant called tonight and said she can file with whatever she has and they will amend later on. He says he does it all the time for business owners who need the tax information for some other purpose (ie college). The tax return is just to see if my legal guardian has any money (I assume) which she doesn’t, and the amended return will probably show less income than this one. He also was very surprised they are asking for it since she has no obligation to give it.
