Dragas said she had hoped the Student Council would have “chosen a different action and withstood the active lobbying by those who opposed me.” She cited a TV interview that showed students who may not agree with the council’s vote on the controversy, “which many appear to see as about politics rather than education,” she said.
“However, I deeply respect and value that students want their voices heard and that those in leadership believe it is their responsibility to speak out — no matter how popular their opinion,” Dragas said.
