I have 2 panels that can be hung with back tabs or used as pole pocket. I want to actually use on a traverse rod (the old fashioned kind that will be hidden by a valance).
Do I stick the drapery pin in the back tab or between the back tabs? I ordered one set of drapes that I sent back and they had plastic thread between the tabs to use for hooks. However, I was searching and I see some people hook the pins in the tabs.
Does anyone know which is right?
I can’t find what I want in color, size, light blocking etc, with any pinch pleat. These come with a valance, I like the drape itself and I decided I needed to hide the top of so much (blind, sheers and drapes), that I’m using these.
I’d be concerned about damaging the fabric if you actually plan to open and close the panels. When I make traversing pinch pleats with pins, the pin goes into 4-8 layers of fabric plus crinoline (depends on construction). It would probably be fine for lightweight panels that are stationary, but I would not recommend for traversing panels.
Thanks. I guess I’ll leave them stationary and just use the blind like before. I was going to see if we could go away with it since the blinds are blackout. I like the traverse rod we have as it is a double rod and sticks out pretty far. I’m just going to pin the drapes to go around the edge for a nice look. Then I’ll put the valance on a decorative pole and found extra long pole holders that anchor to the wall.
It sounds like you are using the draps for decoration and not needing them as a window cover since the blinds serve that function. Do not worry about what is right- only what you like. I have no idea what a drapery pin is (and have even made panels, curtains et al when I couldn’t find what I wanted- hate to sew).
