I have twice owned my dream car. First it was a late '60s Mustang, Mach 1, Hurst shifter, 451 engine. Thing went like a bat out of hell but only in a straight line. Took me two months to decide to sell it. I made a small profit.

Second dream car was an Alfa Romeo. What a wonderful car that was to drive… to and from the repair shop. It was a nightmare of mechanical failure after electrical system crosswiring after weird problem and impossible to start in the cold. My favorite time was when the electric windows started going up and down spontaneously—in a sleet storm with ice coming sideways and two tiny children (age 1 and 2) in the back.

My husband got his Mercedes SLR and sold it after two years. Now he’s got the Porsche Carrera, which is a blast to drive, but which makes him so worried that he’s uncomfortable with driving it if he might have to park it outside the garage.

err…love my uncles bmw m3. Would get that if I become rich. Lamborghini if i was bleeding money. Funny how you mentioned the civic since that’s exactly what im driving right now haha, my dads 02’ civic.

UCSDUCLAdad–yep, it was a 351. Whatever it was, it was too big for the tires and too big for the brakes. However, in southern CA, with all those straight highways, it would have been fun to drive.

I didn’t mention the M5 I drove for almost six years. That was a wonderful car but finally the repairs got to be too much for me. Burning $5000 every six months got old once it was out of warranty. Well, that and the clutch, which made my knee hurt. It was the first sign of my bone cancer Glad that’s gone, I can drive a stick shift again, although DH had the Porsche for over a year before I drove it for the first time.

I have had my 68 corvette bigblock convertible for 10 years, and it is my dream car. When it becomes my nightmare I might trade it for a newer model. LOL I have recently been looking at ads for a 68 - 70 Volvo 1800s. It’s a little sports car that volvo made back then, and my father drove one for a summer and I have liked them ever since.

A Mustang convertible, thank you. Black cherry with saddle tan interior, although a matching one, but in deep blue with saddle, would be welcome too!
