I’m a college freshman and my university has a career day coming up. However I am an out of state student and I did not think of bringing any formal clothes. The most I have are khaki pants. (I’m a girl) and a navy polo shirt. What should I do in this situation? I don’t have any formal shoes at all.
First, check to see what the “required” attire actually is. You may be fine with khakis and polo, add a sweater or jacket if you have one and the weather isn’t too hot.
See what your roommate or other girls on your floor have that you can borrow. Make it fun: tell them you unknowingly brought nothing and you need them to dress you for this event!
Assuming that it is an on-campus event, the career center may have some suggestions (though it may depend on the kind of job and industry you are targeting).
Since you said you didn’t think to bring them, it implies that you do indeed have them sitting at home. In which case, can’t your parents simply ship them to you? It’s not a bad idea to have “better” clothes - you may find yourself in situations that call for them.
