Popping in after awhile and trying to catch up. Hoggirl, I just love that blue and white dress! So eye catching.
Forgive me, I can’t remember who posted what, but I love the denim skirt too. I bought a really cute long maxi one with center split from target in the spring and only wore it once and accidentally dried it! I didn’t notice it had fallen off the hangar right into the laundry basket and thought it was DH jeans. It still fits but not as nice looking in the tummy area. I wore it with cream heeled boots.
Ok, so I’ve never bought Lilly Pulitzer before. I’ve never loved most of that type of pattern, so never go and look.
But this dress popped up on my FB page and I fell in love. I got 20% off since it was my first time, it came today and is THE bombshell! Looks just like the photos. Very slimming, slough I still need Spanx for my tummy. Side zipper, built in cups with silicone.
I’m from south Florida originally and the prints have been around and favored by many for years; I still recall buying my first item from Lilly and was so excited!
Believe it or not, the more you buy from LP, you can start differentiating the patterns introduced each year; before I had a very hard time seeing how they differed.
I love your new dress!!! Gorgeous colors and maxi style!
Yes, they still do include the word Lilly on every pattern. Some are much easier to see than others.
To be honest, I use to alway look for them but haven’t in recent years.
Now I want to look in my closet and search for them.
My MOB dress is Lilly Pulitzer. So was the rehearsal dinner dress. I found that it fits well on me.
@conmama love that dress! I personally can’t wear strapless as I have a scar that isn’t attractive on my shoulder. But I do agree that their clothing is very well made.
I do like their golf clothes and wore a dress today to play. Their sales are really good! Final sale but if you know your size, things are highly discounted
I was disappointed in the Nordstrom sale. The only thing I wanted/needed was a pair of heels (in black) and the sale styles in my size (narrow width) all looked frumpy to me.
Typically not a fan of LP either but I did recently buy a beautiful flowy top (navy with gold accents) for a Carribean vacation I have in January. It was on a crazy sale that they were having. I think it will look good with white pants but it’s something I will likely only pull out for a warm weather vacation.
@Hoggirl - the blue and white dress came today and I love it! Now I’m trying to decide if I should wear the dress from Anthropologie I wore last weekend to a wedding or the blue and white one. Tomorrow is opening day at the Del Mar Races and I have a cute new floppy straw hat that will match either dress. Thank you again for posting your pictures! The dress came really fast to me from Sugar Lips.
I’ve never purchased Boden before, but I’ve been looking for short-sleeve dresses and thought this was cute. Ordered it, I’ll let you know! Did the 10% off.
Get your animal prints out, Ladies. Just went to our upscale “fashion mall”. Anthro, free people, Evereve just a few stores showing animal print tops and dresses! Yes, they are a staple, but do come and go on trend. It’s been a few years but they are back!
While at the dentist yesterday for a cleaning, I watched a documentary on animal camouflage. There’s a theory that flies are much less likely to land on zebras than other plains animals - only one fourth as often - possibly because the stripes confuse the flies as they approach. So wear zebra prints to picnics.
Also deer can’t see the color orange; it looks green to them. So if you want to sneak up on a deer, wear a tiger print.
Has anyone owned/ordered bags from Portland Leather ??? I’m in the market for a new everyday purse - but I only use backpack purses. I stick with one purse and largely that’s what I use until it dies - outside of when I only need something small and then I’ll use my Baggu crossbody or something else small for the needs of that outing.
Here’s the one I was looking at:
Will also entertain other suggestions. I would like leather or “nearly leather” I’m NOT opposed to color - I’m actually a sucker for a bag with color - like a mustard color or blue or green!
I will just add that since I recently got a small backpack that I use as purse (nylon, with multiple zippered pockets) - I will never go back to a regular purse again. So organized. So nice to heave weight spread across shoulders. No more watching contents of purse all fall to floor when taking a sharp curve in the car.
Yes, I have the festival crossbody from Portland Leather. I really like it, and I love their business model. It is not the most luxurious of leather bags, but it has held up well (does not scratch easily, despite my dogs jumping on me every time I walk in the door) and I get compliments on it all the time.
