Black linen jumpsuit. This is just an example. Dress it up or down. Add some accessories. Good for sitting, standing, dancing!

Where is that one from? EDIT - I found it. Loft
Good for all those things! But, maybe not peeing
It’s super cute
I’m not that fashionable or go to many concerts
But… I’m in love with a mini denim dress.
Splurge
Abercrombie had a similar version but it looks to be sold out.
I love the idea of a jumpsuit but I never end up wearing.
I thought this was a link. It’s from Nordstrom but is a reformation dress so I’m guessing it can be found on their website. I like a short dress.
I like both the denim dress and the jumpsuit.
Also, I am jealous!
I wore blue and white striped, wide leg linen pants and a white top to my last concert. No issue with the peeing ; )
I love that mini dress, but my upper thighs cannot be seen in public. Unless, I am running. Which one would think would help with the upper thighs, but alas gravity trumps exercise.
I’m not sure I can get away with linen - I’m in the South. I’m rusty on the rules having since recently lived in Florida. Definitely a tricky time of year for clothing.
I like both the jumpsuit and wide-leg pants idea. I’ve not fared well with jumpsuits in the past. Hmmm. I may go look at Dillard’s today or tomrrow.
I admit after seeing some photos of @Hoggirl here on CC dressed and looking fantastic that that made me be able to see her in like a linen jumpsuit!!
I think whatever you choose it should have a little fun or whimsy - summer! concert! Soul music!
That denim dress is cute. Maybe the model is tall but I think it could use a COUPLE more inches! (above the knee but not that above the knee! )
Just because I was curious:
Wear leggings under the mini?
I think a short dress, even if it looks great standing, can be awkward at an event with sitting (seated at a table).
A clothing store owner told me a lot of her clients wear bike shorts under casual dresses. I think partly as a minimal shareware, partly for modesty.
I think this is mean to be a Ref similar dress, I couldn’t quite pull it off but looks amazing on Marnie Goldberg. I don’t think I’d want to wear a mini skirt in that situation, getting up and down from different level seats could be tricky.
Am generally a Walmart hater, but have been influenced and they have had some pretty amazing for the price clothes lately. Mostly buying 100% cotton things. Have a couple casual Time and Tru mini dresses that get complements every time I wear. Will also link the fall version that looks cuter on a real life person than picture. Forgot I also have the blue poplin dress which is nice enough that I’m planning on returning the Vince linen version from the Nordstrom sale.

Also note that on Walmart.com you can chose you model from a large variety of heights and shapes and see what it looks like on a person similar to you. They also supposedly can put it on you, but I’ve never tried that.
I actually own that second dress from Walmart in the floral print!
I’m 5’1”, that mini dress is 34”. That’s a perfect length for me, runs about 3” above my knee.
It’s a sweet spot for me. I always wear bike shorts underneath. I feel good and am comfortable in a dress that length.
There are tons and tons of denim dresses out there this season. Of all lengths.
I think wide leg light weight pants would be great. As a short person, they are harder for me to find so I don’t gravitate towards them.
All those old rules about linen are just that. Old! It’s still hot out!
Someone, maybe @Colorado_mom, got a print dress earlier this year that was very similar to a dress from Anthropologie called Somerset. I have tried on this dress, and if feels like too much material on me, but I think it looks great on other people. They even have a denim version.

ETA - meant as reply to @Hoggirl
Found the other dress. It was actually @showmom858 that suggested it for something. It’s made by sugar lips.
Yes. I always wear shorts (volleyball type) under short dresses or skirts. I feel it’s especially important in crowded areas to avoid upskirting.
Heading to California (SF and Sonoma) next week.
Do people where white jeans (capri jeans in my case) this time of year? I am normally NOT a white pants person, but when I went on a trip a year or so ago and every other woman had white pants and I didn’t, I decided I should get a pair.
Thanks in advance
White jeans are fine. It’s still hot in most of Ca.
We’ve been to Napa in late September, and I’ve seen plenty of white!
@1214mom - I have both the Somerset dress from Anthropologie and 2 of the Sugarlips dresses you linked. I like them all, but I think the Sugarlips dresses are less material so I probably like them more. I’ll be packing them tomorrow since we head to Bermuda for 10 days.
Also as others said white pants are fine to wear in CA especially with how hot it is right now.
