Dressing Young (2024)

Have fun in Bermuda! I have relatives that were supposed to be on a cruise to Bermuda right now. BUT, they forgot their passports, so they didn’t get to get on the cruise. Sad, but given they’ve been on MANY (like over 20) cruises, they should have known better.

Went to Nordstrom yesterday to return a few dresses that were not the right fit. Fall clothes are out, and for some reason they look depressing. Dark colors and so much fabric! Puffy sleeves (yuck), long, full skirts, wide pants. My bank account is safe for the time being.

I’ve been browsing without much success to look for a dress to wear at an informal, late afternoon garden party which we are hosting.

Meanwhile, I found this during my search. Too short for my comfort level in dresses but I figure someone else may find it useful. The price is great. Sundance has some interesting dresses on sale right now for anyone looking.

Sounds like Little House On The Prairie!

Can’t wait for that trend to die out !

Is it me or are penny loafers back in a big way? I have a pair of classic penny loafers in black patent bought 11 years ago in a Cole Haan outlet store. Maybe I need to pull them out.

Definitely looks like they are baaaaack!

Has Bass been making them all this time and I was oblivious? Takes me back in time…

Yup.

Last year, the Mary Jane version of their weejuns quickly sold out after Taylor Swift was spotted wearing a pair.

Gosh, I’m feeling old. I had no idea the price had risen so much compared to when I last bought a pair! Reality check for me, lol.

Brings back high school memories of blisters…but I loved Weejuns!

I agree. I walked into many stores at the mall, looking for clothes I could wear on my trip to SF and Sonoma. I was even willing to pay full price if I found something I liked. All I got was a summer shirt for 60% off somewhere.

In July, I ran through the same store I mentioned above and thought there were some cute things. Just did not have the time to shop around because we were going to the movies. Well, all that cute stuff is gone! The fall offerings were abysmally dreadful.

I think some of us can relate…

Which one of the two dresses would you savvy CC shoppers buy? The price of the one on the left can’t be beat, but the color on the right seems so richer.

Buy the second and ask for a price adjustment

That’s funny! Same website?

That is a screenshot of my search on the Nordstrom site! Apparently, the color of the denim is different… but can you see much difference? Lol.

Slightly different poses! And the sale dress is Blue Stone while the full price is Forget Me Not, which is also the color name used by Neimans and Bloomies. I think of Forget Me Not as a lighter blue shade.

Also I think Grecia from Costa Mesa gives a better description of the sale dress than Roxanne from Scottsdale gives of the full price version.

I never did find an ideal gauzy white shirt for summer “sweater” (if AC cool). But the shirt I have is ok, and I also have a short sleeved white shirt jacket… decided they can work.

But for early fall “sweater” I picked up a J.Jill shirt something like this at thrift shop, XS/petite for $3. Mine is a very soft fabric, not as stiff as denim. The color is sort of between the light and dark blues shows.
