Dressing Young (2024)

I went to take back my jacket and order the 10. They only had the black in the store. I tried it on and it’s such a cool jacket in the black. They did have the since ribbed top. I think it looked really nice with the jacket but it just looks a bit weird on around the bust. The neck was also bothering me a little like it did you. Maybe if it was $25 I’d buy it , but not $85

As the weather changes I’m trying to figure out what to wear with my newer wide leg cropped jeans. I’m loving the Mother jeans I bought but have been wearing them mainly with a white or gray t shirt. Today is overcast and I’m trying to decide what works with this style pant. I’ve got a t shirt with a Frank and Eileen heavy weight blouse style over it worn open. I’m not 100% sure it’s ideal.

I’ve been wearing short boxy sweaters with my wide-leg jeans.

I would wear a fitted sleeveless top and a cropped fitted jacket with knee high boots. All black is good, or a black cropped tweed jacket. Tweed is really in right now. Same thing, but with all ivory

Iwith my wider leg cropped pants, I keep the upper part closer to my body.

I wear my wide leg jeans with a fitted top or sweater that isn’t too long.

Higher shaft booties are also good with cropped jeans.

I have a really hard time getting knee high boots to fit so I will wear booties.

But agree with a shorter fitted top with a wider leg bottom.

Thanks for all the tips. I am transitioning from being a skinny jean wearer so my wardrobe is geared to the opposite. 90% of the time I wear a flat shoe. Of course now I’m getting some targeted facebook ads on how to style wide legged jeans.

I’m on the low end of the stylist spectrum. Mostly I try to stick with what is comfortable and looks good on me. Since for me jeans are mostly for comfort (ie not trying to keep trendy), I’ll likely skip the wide leg jeans trend. But it is really fun to read all the variety of posts

I would have skipped the wide leg trend but when I tried them on at the suggestion of the salesperson I was shocked I liked them. I’ve ended up wearing them quite often. They are also so comfortable. My husband isn’t so sure about them.

Can you show an example of what you bought?

Very cool. I can’t pull this look off no matter how hard I would try. Two thumbs up to you!

Nice! I agree that a cropped sweater maybe boxy look would be right with these.

Cute but not my style either.

Really cute! Love the dark color.

Wide leg jeans are fun! And comfortable!

I like the raw hem, too! What I like about wide leg crops, is it’s a youthful dressing trend with out looking too young! The 20 somethings are wearing those huge baggy jeans. Sometimes they look cute, sometimes not. But it’s a style I won’t touch. The wide cropped has a tailored look.

For those of you who say you can’t wear the, why is that? Have you trued them with heeled boots?

I really hesitated trying wide leg jeans feeling they would be unflattering, but they are surprisingly not. I agree that they are very comfortable.

I agree, super flattering and comfortable. I’ve been wearing mine with Maryjane flats.

Didn’t think I would like wide leg cropped jeans either but my daughter convinced me. I’ve worn mine with a long shaft tight bootie. I am 5’9” so I did need to try a few to make sure they weren’t too cropped on me.

After years of skinny jeans and also black leggings as weekend wear I’m finding that while they have their place, I don’t want that tighter feeling on my legs day in and out.
