I feel conflicted over that sometimes. LOL - Classic example of how discussion on CC can meandeinto another topic of interest…. declutter / Bag a Week thread
I’ve been clearing out of my closet any clothes that don’t bring me joy as Marie Kondo would say. So when I buy anything new, I look for something to go into the donation bin to make room for the new stuff. I have not bought anything lately because I am not a fan of the current trends: puffy sleeves, cropped shirts, baggy pants… it was easy to pass up the designer sales this season.
Me, too! I’m so tired of pulling out a cute top and it’s cropped.
Wrap dresses just accentuate my hips.
I’ve been losing weight in order to hit the max BMI (I know, I know) for DIEP flap recon in January. So far, down 50 & hit the target. I’m short and carry my weight hips on down. If the pants are too wide, I look like a jack-in-the-box. I also have a long torso, so cropped anything looks waaaay too short.
I’ve mostly survived by digging through the clothes I’d outgrown to find what fits & could be styled to make it work for today and shopping Costco haha.
Best find was a pair of Paige jeans, straight legged. Waist is a little low, but I compensate with longer tops out or tucked in.
Funny thing is that my weight loss has hit where it hasn’t in the past, so saddle bags and butt are going. (The jeans I wore when I was another 20-25 lbs less.)
Has anyone here bought jeans from Quince? The reviews are good but I would like to know more about fit, etc.
Similar question about the jeans from AYR.
Yes, the price difference is huge. Wondering if it is worth it.
I haven’t bought jeans from either but have other items of clothing from both that I’ve been very happy with. I’ve come close to pulling the trigger on jeans from AYR but always worried they will be too long on me.
I’m close to ordering from both (I also have ordered other clothing items from both). I can always return them…
Keep us posted! Hope you like at least one of them.
I have several things from Quince but no jeans and never heard of AYR until now. Just to make it more difficult for you - I have many pairs of jeans from Everlane and have had very good luck with them. My first order from them was in 2018 and I still have the those jeans.
That’s a good suggestion. I have some clothing items from Everlane and have always been happy with them
Glad to be of help. I want to be a new pair of jeans - it’s been a while - but I already have too many pairs.
I found Paige jeans at Nordstrom Rack. Wish I had bought two
Talk to me about merlino wool socks. Several years ago I bought some from Costco and it was life changing. I had no idea the regular cotton socks I had worn all my life were so terrible. I am always cold in the winter and wearing wool socks made a big difference.
Some of my Costco ones seem to have shrunk a bit and some of them are patterns that don’t work for work clothes.
I’ve looked at Bombas, Quince, Smartwool, Merlino.Tech, Darn Tough. Some are SO expensive. Quince seem priced pretty reasonably. Merlino.Tech is billed as an “affordable” amazon brand. It’s hard to swallow spending $20+ for one pair of socks.
I buy my Smartwool socks at Nordstrom Rack or at REI when they have their big sales. I love them in the winter!
Sierra trading post is another place to find wool socks at a discount.
I like nice socks, I try to buy and stock up when I find them at a discount.
Oh that is a good idea!
I also like Thorlo socks—they’re made for mail carriers and such and have nice padding. It’s good to bring whatever socks you plan to wear when you try on your shoes so you buy a big enough size.
@deb922 beat me to it but YES the Sierra I go to has TONS of Smartwool and others. Check both the women’s and men’s department.
Darn tough are expensive but they have a lifetime warranty and the company will replace them if they wear out. I just keep replacing mine. I wait til I have 3 pairs with holes and then send them in to be replaced.
My H and one of my daughters are ridiculously picky about their socks, and always have cold and/or sweaty feet. They both swear by pacas. They are $$, but they run big sales several times a year, and we stock up then.
