So cute! The shipping is pretty expensive, I’m not sure if I would need the small or the medium? It says the fit is relaxed so I’m thinking my smaller size? I do love a zippered sweater
I am still working, in the office 3 days per week. Although I happily sit in joggers or casual jeans on my WFH days, I do really enjoy dressing up for my in-office days.
I actually was really late to the athleisure trend, just buying cute patterned Athleta leggings and tops 3 years ago. I still wear them to go to the grocery, small errands. But, now it seems the more “pant” type are in style according to this thread. What I really need is pretty at home leisure outfit. Something I wouldn’t necessarily wear out. Soft, comfy, attractive, not too warm. Don’t like the sweater pants and sweatshirts, I’d get hot. That’s my next mission. I’m tired of throwing on old ugly sweats and sweaters when I just stay home on the weekends.
At home, I wear dresses or a combo of Zella joggers and a Lululemon tee or a Life Is Good tee (short sleeve in the warmer months, long sleeve in the colder months). My LIG tees are nice quality cotton and have fun designs on the front. These clothes are easy to wash and dry without any special treatment… and they are pretty indestructible.
DARN - I don’t know how I missed they were charging for shipping. I HATE THAT. I guess I was so excited they had what I’m guessing is my size at the same time as a pretty good sale I just overlooked it. I’m between a medium and a large, and I ordered large.
I work in an office 2 days a week and WFH the other days. When I am in the office I normally wear nice dark wash jeans and a blouse with a blazer. My at home work wardrobe is either leggings or joggers with short or long sleeve tees depending on the time of year.
I guess we all might define “pretty” differently.
@BunsenBurner i am also the queen of a big stash of LIG top wear ![]()
Here’s today’s outfit for WFH and will roll into evening at home wear and also walk after work wear.
Athleta cropped leggings
Athleta tshirt
New GAP flannel top w/ruffle detail - loose but not oversized (it’s SO soft, lightweight, comfortable) colors are white/red/black/green
Coordinating red athletic shoes
I could rinse and repeat this for at home and in the neighborhood daily. With a necklace and earrings I think it looks like I gave it some thought and most importantly it feels ME!
I am in the camp of on the days when I go to yoga - I wear my exercise clothes all day to do my other errands. If I have other plans - lunch out etc. - I change.
I do have one sweater-material lounge set that is fairly lightweight fabric and the top is short-sleeved so it’s not too hot. My dream loungewear pants are Vuori joggers - they are so comfortable and can look cute with the right shoes and top. For a dressier option, the Athleta linen pants that have a draw string are comfy for at home, but look cute if you need to go out for errands. They look good with a lightweight sweater or zipped hoodie.
I saw someone wearing one of these waffle knit lounging sets at home. She was “young”(er).
Very cute and not so stuffy hot but this is out of the price range I’d like to pay for items like this.
Yes, “pretty” is subjective. But I WAS talking about my search.
Thanks, I’ve never been in that store. I’ll need to take a look.
My daughter in law likes that brand. A few years ago I bought her a gift from them. The products are so soft but really expensive for something you aren’t wearing out.
FWIW, I put something in my Garnet Hill basket yesterday and then exited out without buying it. A few hours later, they sent me a free shipping code. I haven’t tried it yet (they can be picky about letting you use a code if the sale already has a code - but worth trying to see if they send you a free ship.
I’ve been trying to branch out on my athleisure. I’m a long time Athleta lover but IMO, they’ve pivoted away from stuff you can get away with wearing to a casual job or dinner out, into more full-on exercise wear. I have a fair share of Lululemon, but they haven’t really come out with any new styles (I’m not looking for any more oversized “scuba” sweatshirts). I love Vuori, especially their bottoms, but they are currently embracing the crop top craze, so…
Recently I’ve tried some pieces from Rhone and have been really pleased. High quality (IMO) and polished pieces that look great with the straight and wide leg athletic trouser trend, and styles that you don’t (yet) see on everyone.
Anyone love the Spanx clothing? A lady on TikTok had on the long sleeve athleisure jumpsuit from them and claimed she had gotten several compliments in the hour she had been out running errands. I love a cute dressy jumpsuit for an event but not sure I’m a casual jumpsuit wearer.
I am not familiar with Rhône. I’ll check them out. Thanks for mentioning them.
I’m surprised that Vuori is leaning into the cropped trend. I have a friend who loves their stuff and a crop top would be the last thing she’d EVER wear!!
Alo is another (expensive) brand of athleisure wear. I think they are doing the “cropped” thing too, but not sure.
Based on a friend’s recommendation, I bought a set of Spanx Air Essentials last year. They are incredibly comfortable but for me there is one deal breaker - very few of the items have pockets. I bought pants with a matching 1/4 zip top to wear on the plane. I looked good and was comfortable, but it drove me nuts not to have pockets. So last month I ordered a very similar set from Varley that does have pockets. The fabric is almost as soft as Spanx. My very stylish daughter was impressed I bought Varley. I had never heard of them but saw an Instagram influencer wearing it so took the bait.
I like Varley too! I have a half-zip that I’m patiently waiting for it to be cold enough to wear. I also have a few sweaters. I just got an email this morning for an extra 30% off Spanx but I haven’t seen what it’s on.
I wouldn’t say it’s cropped to the bra line but definitely just above the waist. Some of their basic long-sleeved crew neck shirts and sweatshirts are longer but the ones I was looking at were definitely on the shorter side. I ordered a cardigan top a while ago and sent it back because it was too short. I also have a long torso and will sometimes order shorter tops in a tall size (where available) to get some extra length.
I was going to say that I never shop specifically for home clothing, but during Covid I did make a point to find online item - sleeveless comfy nightgown with pockets. I have gotten LOTS of use out of it.
In retirement, my home clothing is usually geared to my activities that day. Often it is Pickleball or running/walking gardening. Of course sometimes there is exercise gear and then later something else after my shower. When working, my outfits had gotten more and more casual over the years… so I wear a lot of that stuff too.
I have way too many tshirts from decades of travel, kid school stuff (they have left some behind that fit me). I’ve given some away, but I’m a sentimental fool. And heck, who else wants a Tshirt (bought at the time huge/XL for my 5th grader) with the class student names listed on the back? Or the middle school state geography bee Tshirt? Maybe someday it will bring me or the family smiles when I wear them in assisted living ![]()
