This is 100% something I would buy for myself for daily home wear and out and about and as a vacation stable. But I like a sporty vibe and also like a small print floral if done to my taste.
Seems like a great outfit for casual touring, a day with lots of walking or….don’t you have a lake place? This would be fun for a casual dinner out on a cool night. Or an evening walk with a pair of shorts or capris.
That’s my honest opinion but also it’s HONESTLY something I would wear and my family would say “that’s totally you”.
Edit: after reading the comments above (I hadn’t read them yet) I do have to concur with others about the bands at arm and waist - wish they were the same print as the rest of it. I think that was a misstep on Anthro’s part.
I agree that the cut is off for me and not as flattering as some of your other looks. Even though I rarely wear florals, I could see liking that pattern if it was a sleeveless top under a black cropped jacket. Or even a sweatshirt that was draped over and tied with a black top. Sounds like a good purge item. I need to do some of that myself. Too many of my things are just sitting there waiting to be chosen, but always getting passed by…
Slightly off topic, but in the spirit of clearing out our closets of things we never wear - what sites are the best for resale? I know @conmama has had great luck selling on Poshmark, but are their others that a newbie seller would have luck with? My 20 year old had some success selling on Depop a few years ago but the stuff that sold were more teen brands (Brandy Melville, aerie, Hollister, Abercrombie). I’ve looked into eBay, Poshmark and Mercari but not sure where to begin. All I know is my closet is full and I probably only wear about 10% of what is in there!
I like florals, but I absolutely don’t like cuffed wide sleeves with a lot of heavy fabric. It just looks a bit sloppy when it does not drape well. And it is hard to layer when the sleeves are so heavily gathered at the cuff. IMO, a quarter zip with narrower sleeves, self fabric cuffs, and no waistband in that fabric would look fantastic!
I think the key would be that a “newbie” seller pick one site and give it a chance. I don’t know a lot about all them - know more about eBay, Poshmark and Etsy. (Not a pro by any means except that someone in my house does have an EBay business!) If you have vintage or unique items, Etsy can be good. eBay and Poshmark will be more mainstream and make it easier to find items similar to your own so that you can decide on prices, use other postings to help with your descriptions, etc.
One nice thing that eBay has that can save time (don’t know if Poshmark has this) is if you find a listing already posted that is exactly like yours (say you have an LLBean, specific style jacket) you can choose a button that says “sell one like this” - and it will give you a head start on posting your listing. Just make sure it really is the same item/style so your listing is accurate.
So, I took it to DIL and she said she’d try it on, but I could tell she really didn’t like it. I think she was just being nice. I woke up this morning and it has sold on Poshmark! Lol! I’d only be netting $36 and it cost me $107 with tax. I’m getting it back Sunday night if she doesn’t want it. I’d like to ask her now, but I don’t want her to feel bad if she wants it.
I always sell so much more on Poshmark than eBay. However, you have to remain active on it, sharing your closet at least once a day, and better yet, adding new things each day. I use both sites though, with a few others.
For the first time, I ordered a dress online, from Banana Republic. It’s the dress I’ll wear as an attendant at my BFF’s wedding in April. The other attendant had bought this dress and really liked it. And I knew the color would be hard to match, so I thought, what the heck, why not try it? The price - $38!! Not a typo! Marked down from $140. It came today, and I like it, whew! I will have to buy a new bra, obviously. What type/color of shoes would be good? It’s a little hard to tell from the photo, but the color is kind of between royal blue and navy blue.
Great price and looks like a style that will be comfortable and useful for other events as well. I haven’t been in a wedding party since my youngest sister got married a long time ago! How wonderful that both you and the other attendant are happy with the dress.
That’s exactly what I was going to say, silver!
Very nice dress and I like the detail on the skirt portion. Since it’s s long midi, I’d opt for a pump, rather than an ankle strap. So many to choose from!
I am looking for shoes to go with the navy dress I’m going to wear to my D’s wedding. A fair number of styles come in a sort of champagne color as well as silver and gold that I think looks good with the navy. Not necessarily a style you would like but for color, these come in silver as well as what they call platino:
I find many Nina shoes to be very comfortable. On their website they show this style in several more colors and a large selection of other styles in Platino.
I wore these shoes with my navy MOB gown for my daughter’s wedding four years ago. Mine weren’t exactly this color but still a pewter shade (mine are a bit darker, I think). I like this brand of shoes for special occasions. They have a lot of navy and also a variety of silver and pewter options.
