Dressing Young 2026

The title is rooted in CC history! Here is the original thread that started it all.

Not me! :joy: I was hoping I was!

No kidding? I don’t know why I thought Deb22 started it.

Deb, I miss those long beaded necklaces with the huge stone at the end that one influencer wore. She’s tiny and a brunette. I had an ivory and turquoise, I think you had a black one. They are beautiful!

I think you started the last one

Well, won’t be buying any of those new items.

I am not Vogue’s demographic, but some of the items were to me, normal and wearable. A shirt dress? Easy to wear! There were some shift dresses and some of the mini’s with a few more inches would be cute and event/age appropriate.

These type of articles are meant for most people to take inspiration from, not necessarily buy.

Has anyone tried AYR jeans?

Fun to see some of the old CCer’s names on that thread.

In terms of influencers who blend youthful yet age appropriate style - I’ve enjoyed the content from Angie ā€˜Hot and Flashy’ for a few years. She focuses a lot of skin care and make-up but has quite a few clothing videos too…

Someday I may have to bite the bullet and get on the instagram bandwagon.

It’s one more time-absorber - but my kids are on it and I get a little window into their interests and activities so keep it for that

Somebody needs to make some of those models eat!

I was pleasantly surprised that I and both my goddaughters all wear size 6 short Gloria Vanderbilt jeans—I got us all black jeans for Christmas! I’m not sure they kept theirs—I did tell them it was from Costco, in case they wanted to return/exchange it. I kept 3 pairs because it was cheaper when you bought 5 and I got a crazy discount that was equal to the huge shipping charge, so it ended up being quite reasonable even with the shipping you have to pay for mailing to HI. They didn’t have the 6 short in stock at the store.

Sorry, I’m still pretty frugal about my clothing and mostly buy from Costco because it fits well enough and prices are reasonable enough that I don’t get too sad when it’s time to discard them. I like feeling the fabric before buying when possible, which is more difficult when you do mail order. Sizing is very confusing as well, even within the same brand at times, which is another annoyance. Shipping to Hawaii is also often pretty expensive as well.

I haven’t followed Angie Hot and Flashy in awhile, but I always really liked her lookbooks and copied some of her ideas. Bought some things she linked, and started Timeless skincare. I really enjoyed how she was brave enough to do all sorts of non invasive cosmetic procedures on her body and do an honest feedback. I haven’t followed any influencers in awhile, but I have to say she was my favorite.

I follow Merrick White (merricksart) after someone here recommended her - maybe @deb922

Another fun follow is Jill below. She dresses casually and sporty - how I like to dress - and with color and pattern! She also incorporates thrift finds - like me. Right now she is doing a ā€œshop your closetā€ feature for the month of January.

I do follow merricks art. She’s younger than me but she dresses pretty conservatively and shows a lot of different combinations to give some inspiration

I have to say that I’m getting a bit burned out on instagram because I’m easily influenced and don’t need to be!

Merrick had a recent mini collab with Anthropologie.

There’s another lady, I think her name is Angie or Angela (but not the hot & flashy one), who I follow on Instagram. She is my age and dresses very simply and classy. She mostly features clothes from Anthro, JCrew & Madewell. I also have one who shows up on my TikTok FY page that styles clothes on more of a mid-size body. She also leans a bit toward higher end fashions - does a lot of Sezanne. Sezanne’s sizing is a little confusing so it’s helpful to see what different sizes look like.

I’m also easily influenced. I put myself on a 24-36 hour hold before I pull the trigger to buy something to make sure I still feel like I need it a couple of days later

From one of the other threads I still read The Mom Edit https://themomedit.com/. There are women of different ages and body types with different types of styles so there is something of interest for everyone.

I also read Kim France/girls of a certain age. She was founding editor of Lucky magazine, she’s probably around 60 now. I don’t have the paid subscription, but she does send three free posts per week. She has a good sense of style and trends, and highlights clothing (sometimes housewares) from a wide variety of price points.

For style inspiration from a woman in her 60’s, Lisa Corbo is amazing. She wears only high end designers though, so not in my budget! https://www.instagram.com/lisacorbo/

Haven’t tried their jeans but did buy a sweater from them about 2 years ago. Excellent quality and fit. Also curious about their jeans.

I like a number of influencers (particularly Merrick White) who are in their 30’s but dress like stylish moms. They follow the trends but the things they share can be worn at any age for the most part. This is the second year that Merrick has done a collab with Anthropologie. Last year I bought her black colette pants that have black leather pockets and have gotten so much use out of them. This year before Christmas I bought these pants:

I also like that Merrick shares clothes that are at a variety of price points (regularly includes items from Target, Old Navy and Walmart in addition to high end items) and when she travels, she shares her outfits and how she packs.
