Hmmm…. That’s a different co, it looks like. Lucy and Miles, not Lucy and Lilly.
Whenever they are “going out of business” or closing shop or whatever I am skeptical! I bet I can find that dress similar elsewhere - prob too long for me anyway
Oops! Sorry. I googled Lucy and Lilly
I googled and got “it’s high risk” in return.
It the picture it looks awesome. Wonder if you can do an image search.
Looks like a place called Donna’s Dresses may have it? I don’t know what price you were seeing it for or if the site I saw is better/worse.
Asked Google what the deal with “Donna’s Dresses” was, and here is the response:
“ 1. Donna’s Dresses (Online Boutique / Social Media Ads)
This is the heavily marketed online store seen across social media feeds.
If you are looking for the popular physical boutique located in the Midwest, feedback is incredibly positive. [1, 2]
If you are looking for the well-known Australian fashion brand.
When a site doesn’t list the fabric fiber content, it is a red flag to me.
Yeah I’m over it. Caught my eye but not my credit card. ![]()
I saw that retailers are upset that they have too many returns. It costs them money
My rant. Retailers have decided to close stores. Make women’s clothing sizing very inconsistent. Not have much selection in the store. For us short ones, they have completely closed any petite selection.
This is self inflicted and I don’t feel sorry at all.
I buy summer clothes from Talbots. They have petites, they have an actual store not far away. I ordered a few things. Sizing is all over the place. T shirts I ordered in a medium last year, this year the xs fits. The selection in the store. Terrible. Their idea is for me to order and have it sent to me. How is that different?
No kidding! E-commerce means more returns. If you want to succeed as an e-retailer, either accept the fact that there will be more returns or make sure the sizing is consistent and the description is as accurate as possible!
I bought a nice shirt online. Thank goodness I saw size 4 IRL. My size 6 would not even fit our toddler granddaughter! So I bought size 12. The maker likely used some foreign sizing but the sizing guide posted with the shirt was the US! Size 12 fit me perfectly. You bet the shirt was a returns champion! ![]()
I wonder how retailers (and Amazon) manage with all the returns. My husband and neighbor frequent an online ‘auction’ where internet returns are offered for a fraction of the original price.
Good point about the inconsistent sizing for women. I have no idea how that developed and men got away with these perfectly standard sizes! Many online retailers don’t even stock my size (and I’m not that unusual).
It’s not just on-line retailers whose sizes are inconsistent. I was recently in the store of a brand I love. They have one of everything displayed and they get your size. My guess is that they do this in part because the sizing is wildly inconsistent. She brought me one pair of pants in a size 4, another in a 6, a dress in a M, and several shirts in xs/s. All fit like they’d been made for me. But had I been ordering online, how could I possibly have known what size to order?
I’ve gotten to like combo mailorder/store merchants. That way it’s easy to return. (I assume also some stores sell returned merchandise rather than sending it back?). But… as pointed out, when sizing is inconsistent, it can be hard to swap to better fit.
I became a huge fan of Nordstrom. I especially like their digital stylists’ video descriptions of clothing. They saved me from a few hassles of buying and returning. ![]()
When I buy from Nordstrom online, I can return things that did not fit to the nearby store. I was told that items regularly carried by Nordstrom go back on store racks. The 90-day returns from Nordstrom marketplace go back to the seller (or dispose of per seller’s agreement).
My recent haul gets ten out of ten stars! After buying the pewter pair, I went ahead and bought a black one, too!

@BunsenBurner I had no idea Nordstrom has video stylists. I do love Nordies.
My sister found out the hard way that Uniqlo doesn’t accept returns of things ordered online in their stores. They have to be mailed back.
