Dressing Young 2026

What a cute color, @college_query! I’m going to check that one out.

PS all those little rose-colored boleros were so cute for the staples dress!

Re: sandals. I had to make an emergency purchase in Honolulu last December when my flip flops broke. Thankfully, the hotel had an Olukai shop right there. I got a pair of slides and OMG they are amazingly comfortable and supportive. Also stay put like a pair of sandals!

I have multiple pairs of Taos Sandals. They are nice because you can adjust the straps on them, and I think they do have some arch support.

Taos do have some arch support. But still too low for me to do serious travel walking. They fit my friend very well. That’s why OP really needs to check all of them out!

How about a capelet or cardigan cape? Would be a little flowy like the skirt of the dress.

SAS and Taos make sandals that support your feet. Taos doesn’t have quite enough arch for me.

Penelope Chilvers has some good ones.

Bared is worth a look.

I have those Olukai sandals and LOVE them! Olukai is one of my favorite sandal/flip flop brands.

For sporty sandals, I like some of the Chacos. Check out The Walking Company for good suggestions on supportive shoes.

I think what I’m going to do is bring both a wrap and a bolero-type cardigan and make a game time decision

I have the Clare V Grand Fanny in a black weave and love it. I’d also love it in a brown color.

Yeah. I am a tote collector and I love this one:

Back to the sweater issue. Even here in Florida the weather can drop in the evening. I had two capes and wore one and let my daughter-in-law wear the other. You couldn’t even see our dresses (both short). Some women borrowed their husband‘s jackets. so, if the invitation says to bring a sweater, I definitely would bring something cashmere and definitely warm.

Agree. I check the weather each week and so far the highs have only been in the low 60’s and it’s already the end of June. I am thankful for a cooler weather wedding though!

The sun on the California coast usually doesn’t come out until later in the summer. Typing as I look out on a cloudy overcast day.

We’ve had much less June gloom here by the coast in San Diego this year. It has been burning off much earlier in the day where I live.

Saturday and Sunday I woke up to beautiful sunshine. Today it’s back to June gloom.

@HImom
This is the Chaco sandal I own. The arch support is great. This style is likely last years model but it is on sale at some places.

Thanks—found a knockoff of Teva and just bought it. It was only $34 on Amazon, so will find out whether i like it or not. I’m just going to use it for walking around neighborhood, not serious hiking and the reviews were pretty positive. Fingers crossed I ordered the correct size!
