Unfortunate but I can relate. If the fit of a piece of clothing doesn’t feel right to me, it doesn’t matter how pretty it looks on its own or what others might say. I returned many dresses my husband really liked but I didn’t feel comfortable in.
Hope you can find another beautiful dress for your trip to the CA wine country! Coincidentally, we will be in Napa in August. I’m brining my Farm Rio wardrobe!
I have several cute dresses I’ve been wanting to wear! I’ve only wore an ASTR dress once last fall when we went to Paris, and an Anthro one I bought this summer I’ve only worn once too. Although people do get a little more dressed up if they want at the lake where I am most weekends hat a certain rests)(sundresses vs shorts), it’s typically super lightweight. The ones I have are just a little too nice.
I just ordered this from Cupshe, more my style. Just depends on how it fits, though.
Thanks guys! It all depends on how my armpit fat looks in it! LOL! That truly is one thing about getting older that took me by surprise. That, and my crepey thighs.
Cupshe material isn’t the best obviously, as I think polyester, no cotton in any I’ve purchased. But the styles are cute, they are unlined which helps with the heat and I like the patterns. I feel they are true to the stock photos. Plus, you can’t beat that price point.
Switching topics a bit. I need to rant. I was hoping to find a swimsuit brand that is not as expensive as the one I usually buy. Browsed every store that had swimwear in last week… so disappointed. Who in their right state of mind decided that women with big boobs need padded swim tops?! No one, no one wearing a cup size C or bigger needs all that extra padding! Some have removable padding, but removing it distorts the fit, and many feature sewn in padding! Sigh. Back to buying my expensive Prima Donna suit separates!
I’m finding it pretty sad that all I’m really going to be buying from Nordstrom in their anniversary sale are socks and underwear.
I decided that I’m taking what I have here at home over to our other place and throwing out what’s there. I think some of the smartwool socks are from when I ran my first half marathon many years ago.
My doctor is putting me on a GLP-1 in August to help my pre-diabetes and high cholesterol, so hopefully my weight will drop. Spending money on clothes that may be a size or more too big in the fall is not the best idea.
Every year, the Nordstrom sale is more underwhelming than the years before. I had a few bras, some shoes and beauty items on my wish list and I’m so “meh” about them, I ended up buying nothing from the sale.
The bra I wear is in the sale every year, but it eventually ends up going on sale for much less than the anniversary sale price. I can wait until then. Even the influencers are having a hard time selling it this year. The consensus among them is that unless you’re looking for the very high-end items (which they feature less and less of each year), the rest will be on a better sale in a month or so. H&M, really? I miss the old days. It also says a lot that nothing on my wish list is sold out yet. Many items used to sell out because the influencers grabbed everything.
I rarely wear swimsuits now, even having a lake cottage. I only put one on if I’m going on the bust and it’s always with a coverup. If I never wear one again, I’d be thrilled.
Every year I get a little “excited” about the Nordstrom sale, but I haven’t spent a lot of money at the sale in many years. Now that I’m not working, and I don’t need to buy my kids clothes (they used to have nice shirts and pants they could wear as their uniform to school). I actually forgot my access starts today until I read your post. I’ll send you the bill :).
I bookmarked a few things, but likely won’t be buying them. I was at the local store a couple of days ago when all of the sale stuff was being put out on display, and I realized that seeing those fall and winter clothes in muted colors in the middle of summer was a bit depressing! I felt like a kid shopping for school clothes which was not a lot of fun back in the days
I have a few things in my cart but noting I’m excited about. I might just skip it all together this year. @deb922 I do have a Longchamp cross body bag in my cart. What one did you order?
So far from the Nordstrom sale I’ve ordered a Natori bra, Beyond Yoga tee, mascara (for DIL) and a cotton sweater. I ordered the sweater in 2 sizes and 1 has already been canceled :(. I went into our local Nordstrom since we ate at the mall this afternoon and they don’t have the mascara I wanted in stock, so I will be ordering it too. Not much…
I spent all of my money on socks and underwear. My daughters were included in the sock purchase, a far cry from the days of outfitting them for school (from nursery on) at the sale. Always big fans, my mom and dad would always buy our shoes at the sale, plus whatever else was needed. (Mom worked at the downtown store in the mid-50’s.) It just wasn’t working for me this year.
I looked through the store and just wasn’t overly impressed, not even with shoes.
I’m 65, and some of the prints were too much like my grandma wore or the fabrics she used to make our play clothes.
