Yeah, you could sometimes do a documentary on examining the work wear of a company - it could be REALLY interesting!

A pet peeve I have at work. Now, keep in mind, I live in Ohio and I am someone who loves summer, loves color and HATES winter and most winter clothing.

Dear People At Work,
It is now full-blown summer season. It is 85 degrees outside with humidity to match. WHY am I seeing you in your mousy black-brown-gray combos of clothing that includes STILL in JUNE dark tweed heavy pants, neck to wrist covered tops in dead-of-winter doldrum colors and heavy clunky dark shoes!!!

A pair of black pants? Great- pair it up with a light colored blouse and or cute top and shrug. Dark pants and top - how about a pop of shoe color? Some colorful flats or low heeled semi-sandals --the shoe store is FULL of the cutest summer shoes ever in every color of the rainbow!

I just don’t get when people keep the same wardrobe going 12 months of the year. :(

I just don’t think I could exist in that type of weather. I have a hard enough time surviving Texas winters. (If my Spanish was better I’d consider moving way South [like maybe Costa Rica.])

yesterday was nice, but it is back to the cold today- * THIS* isn’t how summer is supposed to work- when I was a kid, it was nice until school got out, then it was cold.

School isn’t out yet. :(

But speaking of dress- I am seriously thinking of going as a drag queen for the Glee Flashmob- as they need more for the parade. ( “Flamers” in Seattle- apparently aren’t as easy to find, as flannel shirts and Keens)

But I am not quite sure I have anything that I could put together to qualify for that- and still be able to move in- The choreographer suggested Gaga as an inspiration, but that seems a little frightening.

It’s too bad that D isn’t more my size- or should I say- too bad I am not more * her size*- she is about 7" taller and 15lbs lighter- but I know she has some interesting stuff she has accumulated for costumes.

Also on Monday they asked us to be on the What not to wear show. I have no idea if we are actually supposed to wear something horrible on purpose ( which I am more likely to do- because that wouldn’t be as harsh as having them criticize what I * really* wear)- or not.

I don’t have cable- so I have never seen it-

BunsenBurner- guess you will just need to go to Hawaii again. If it helps any it has not been warm in Santa Barbara either. The last 2 days it has barely hit 70 and that hasn’t been till 4 in the afternoon. I went out at 2pm today and the temp on my car said 66 degrees. My friend joked that the weather knew it was June. June 1st the foggy weather returned like clockwork. We did have a nice May.
I am wearing my new Joe’s jeans. I should have ordered two sizes smaller. They have grown as the day went on. I love the lightweight denim and the softness of the waistband.

mom60, it’s been cold on the West Coast - DH went to the Bay Area for a meeting, did not take a coat (“no one wears coats in CA in June!”), and really regretted it. When he came back, DH checked flights to Hawaii :)

Glad you like your Joe’s jeans. I like mine, too! I also got a pair of clearance D&G jeans from Yoox - wow, they fit my rear as if they were custom tailored. I’m tempted to shop for more jeans, since it looks like this is what I will be wearing all summer long!

And ladies, just an FYI - Nordy’s men’s sale starts tomorrow. It would be a good time to get something stylish for your gentlemen.

I was bathing suit shopping yesterday, and gave up. I was wondering why men have choice of long, loose bottoms, and females suppose to wear short tight bottoms. Now I’ll look for boy bottoms. thanks, BB

Well, I am reporting back about the outdoor wedding. My dress was perfect - the day was hot as hades (Toneranger - you know what the weather was like in our neck of the woods) and so I was as comfortable as possible during the ceremony(which thankfully was short!). The reception was inside the barn which was quite a relief. There was quite an array of attire. Everything from shorts and hawaiian shirts to dressy dresses and very high heels (don’t ever wear high heels to an outdoor wedding - wedges worked great, but those poor girls in heels).

Now, from a practical standpoint, I would discourage my D’s from an outdoor wedding. Older D is getting married next summer and we are indoors. I must say, however, that yesterday was one of the nicest weddings I ever attended. The young couple was so relaxed and happy. It did not seem like a staged event, rather an opportunity to see this young man and woman pledged their lives to one another and to celebrate with them. It was very, very moving.

Yes, it was crazy hot and humid yesterday. I would like to head out to the west coast…I don’t mind chilly weather at all. For me, the hot weather is a bit of a fashion challenge. I’m just not comfortable in shorts at this point…yet capris look dowdy and pants are too hot. I think I need to get some casual skirts that hit at the knee. Or even those long shorts I’m seeing some wear. Cropped pants don’t seem cool enough in this mess. These are the days I long to be skinny…

Reporting back on the concealers I bought…for those cold days or when you wear white t-shirts. They’re called…“low beams”. Thumbs down. They don’t do the job…not enough coverage. Plus…taking them off is literally a pain. Adhesive is a BAD idea.

Like those boy shorts. Not sure how to go on sizing though…and I really don’t NEED them…hah.

OK just how cold is it in San Francisco in July? Going for a little holiday and was going to take pants and sweaters, but H heard that mitts and hats might be needed at night, especially on cruises. Am experiencing my own personal summer (!) but H really feels the cold and is preparing to pack his fall/winter wardrobe. Surely not required?..

Please advise. How can I dress young and be comfortable in SF?

The coldest place in the world is SF in summer! I have had many a business associate purchase a $10 Alcatraz sweatshirt after not packing correctly. :)

toneranger, have you tried NuBra? It is a sticky strapless, backless bra that works really well. For t-shirts, nothing beats Marie Jo bras (Tom is my favorite style).

SF can get a bit chilly at nights even in the summer. You don’t need mitts, but you might need a lightweight, wind- and rain-proof jacket with a hood and some fleece. People on the West Coast tend to dress on the casual side, and dressing in layers helps to keep up with the temperature fluctuations.

toneranger, I don’t know if this would work for you. I have it in white and it’s been a great casual skirt. it’s not nearly as short as the photo shows - hits just above the knee on me and I’m average height.

[Apparel, Handbags, Shoes and Accessories for Women and Men | Banana Republic](<a href=“Banana Republic”>Banana Republic)

We went to see a game in Giant’s stadium several summers ago and it was in the 40s. Before the game I had to go out and pick up a blanket and another jacket. During the day I was fine with layering, but didn’t expect it to get that cold.

Sorry, I forgot Toneranger is tall! Banana Republic carries some things in tall sizes, but unfortunately not their casual skirts. Maybe Anthropologie? They have casual skirts in various lengths.
