I wore Liz & Jones to work years ago.

The Jones section at our Macy’s seems to attract older women. The ones I see shopping there appear to be 70+. I stay away as per the title of this thread.

The Jones section at our Macy’s is right in front of the dressing rooms, so I need to walk through. For the most part, the clothes do nothing for me, though I did buy 2 nice cashmere sweaters on sale last year.

Jones clothes at our Macy’s are really depressing looking. I used to wear Jones and Liz, too, but I have not bought any of their clothes in the past years. As I was cooling off from the heatwave at the nearest Macy’s last night, I was thinking how bad looking most of the clothes there were. There were a lot of edgy teen stuff and matronly stuff, but there were hardly any clothes to excite our age group! I did find a nice pair of black pants in the INC section.

The only time I shop at department stores are when I’m desperate to find a “basic” that I can’t find anywhere else (e.g. a black pencil skirt.)

I was walking “through” (as in, on our way to the parking lot) Macy’s the other day with my 13 year old D - she made a comment that she didn’t “get” department stores because everything is so scattered and there are too many department choices. It made me realize that back in the day, department stores were kind of a one-stop shop for families, but that now, over time, we’ve got to individual/specialty stores - some stores for the teens, some just for men, etc…I don’t do department stores much at all anymore.

Interesting too, because that used to be “the measure of a mall” -by what anchor stores they had. Now we just walk through them to get to our cars!

I think of Nordstrom as sort of a department store. Which brings up a subject dear to my heart - the restaurant on the second floor of our local Nordstrom. It is one of my utmost favorite places to eat. Does anyone else adore Nordstrom food as much as Nordstrom clothes?

Never been. But I adore the Zodiac Room at the Neiman Marcus flagship. I’m pretty sure that the only thing I’ve ever purchased at Neiman Marcus is lunch.

Food at department stores - that could be a whole new thread!

It kind of amazes me that at one time, it was actually fruitful and necessary to have a restaurant in a department store…! And then came along food courts…

I do! I do! Nice, quiet place with really great tasting (and relatively healthy) food. Their cilantro and lime chicken salad is my favorite. I avoid the food court like the plague - too crowded and noisy.

Love the Zodiac room…popovers and chicken broth…yummie. Expensive though…

My co-worker (a plus-sized woman) jokes that Nordstrom puts the plus-sized clothes next the the restaurant. She said, “Do they think we might have to stop and eat while we shop?”

I also love the cilantro/lime chicken salad at Nordstrom. Along with the white chocolate bread pudding!

We get our first Nordstrom here in Nashville in September 2011. I can’t wait. Fortunately (or unfortunately) I travel enough so that I get my “fix”.

I am wearing the blingy butt jeans today at work. Everyone loves them. They fit really well. The pockets aren’t all THAT blingy- think Nike swoosh as opposed to total covering of the pockets.

Blingy butt jeans! The phrase makes me smile.
BBJ

I got this dress from Title 9 a couple weeks ago and finally wore it out today. Lots of compliments, incredibly comfortable, didn’t need a sweater because of the sleeves.

Plus, just got my new fall Title 9 catalog and there is a ton of great stuff in there . . .

I don’t think these are my exact jeans, but the Bling is very similar.

Wow, smallvolume - if those dresses are as gorgeous as their pictures then you’ve hit on some terrific shopping sites. They’re lovely – and sanely priced. Thanks for sharing.

This is the text from the wedding dress sites smallvolume posted above. I’m digging the attempt to be hip in English!

All of the dresses with exposed, contrasting back zippers are driving me crazy. I just don’t get it.

Where is the wedding dress site?^^^

I found it (not on cc). I like it too.
but of course!
