Dressing Young (Part 1)

Not all of these are true orange, but some are.

Momlive - “Nude” color pumps were are really big deal last summer. I saw lots of celebs pictured in them. The idea is that they extend the line of you legs and make them look longer.Might be worth a try.

RE: Jessica Simpson, I liked the dress alumother. Glad you got a lot of compliments on it. And I have seen some of her shoes and liked them. I didn’t know they were comfortable. Too bad they probably don’t fit my narrow feet.

And the sweater covered the darn zipper :)

Thank you guys! It was a fun experiment, one that caused me to dress outside my usual comfort zone and have good discussions. The young women even liked the zipper. Who knew?

BTW, I thought I had posted this before, so if I show up twice, just chalk it up to old brain. OK?

I guess we all have to step outside of our comfort zone once in a while! I liked my cheetah print dress so much that I now own a summer dress with a print that resembles snake skin (under a close inspection :p). Although anything made out of real snake skins makes me verrrrry uneasy. I once touched a python purse, and it was a life scarring experience! LOL! I’m not easily intimidated by critters, but anything snake makes MY skin crawl! :)

NorthMinnesota: I think there will be orange shoes coming out this spring. Orange and turquoise is supposed to be a big color combination this spring-summer.

Eddie Bauer has their denim 50% off today only as the day’s “12 Days of Christmas” deal!

I bought a pair of modern fit crop (?) this fall that I LOVE - wish I was home to check the size so I could order right now!

Wondering if anyone else has a pair of their (Eddie Bauer) modern straight leg or skinny jeans. I like the straight/skinny look, but prefer to not wear them as tight as some people do. I have bought a couple other pairs elsewhere and have just gone 1 size bigger - then they aren’t somewhat fitted but not TIGHT.

Whatever the color just tell her to make sure they are comfortable so she can dance at her own wedding!

I bet she gets two pairs of shoes! One for the wedding and pictures and then a pair to change in to for dancing!

Hi Abasket; I have a pair of the Eddie Bauer modern straight leg jeans; they are great, they are fitted but not super skinny. Because they have a tiny bit of spandex, they are extremely comfortable but also, I think that my pair has actually stretched out a little.

Thanks JG - I better order before midnight!

Is anyone else developing a passion for scarves? Is this a 50-something thing? I can’t stop buying scarves and fussing with them and researching various ways to drape and tie . . . husband keeps bringing me back scarves when he travels overseas. My favorite at the moment is a silk red with white dots. It seems to match everything. Where have scarves been all my life?

I also love scarves! I have been using them to change my look as I lose weight. I haven’t wanted to buy very many clothes as I downsize so scarves really change up the plain tops.

sewhappy - look up the blog, Une Femme d’Un Certain Age. The writer, who goes by Deja Pseu, has scarf tying tutorial videos. And she’s a professional midlife woman, so she’s quite engaging for us sorts:).

I LOVE scarves and have a big collection. I have been wearing them for years, long before the current fashion. I try to buy one on each trip. On my last trip in Oct., I saw one in the window of a shop in the Denver airport, flew in there and bought it and raced back to my gate.

We keep our house fairly cool so lately I’ve been wearing a pashmina-type warm scarf around in the house. I really like the current scarf trend.

Hi guys! I posted a picture of me wearing the Jessica Simpson dress. I think it worked. Never too late to learn new tricks! It’s on my blog, and since I don’t want to post the link according to the TOS, if you go to my user name on the LH side of this post here, the URL is in my profile. If you’re interested. And in any case, Merry Christmas!

Grrr…as some of you know I have been trying to lose weight and my fashion choices have been somewhat limited as I don’t want to spend a ton on a wardrobe that, thankfully, has a short time span. I recently bought a Vera Wang black cardigan with embellished pockets at Kohl’s to wear with jeans to get me through the Holiday Season. Just washed it for the first time and it is coming apart at the seams! Granted it was on sale for only $30 but I was hoping it would last through at least one washing!!! Now back out to shop to find something else! Darn! :(

Alumother, thank you for posting the pictures! You looked fabulous, and your other outfits described in the blog were fabulous as well.

NMinn, I HATE when this happens! You are so brave to hit the mall today or tomorrow (unfortunately, I will have to do the same - I need to buy some earrings to complete yD’s gift). Good luck! I stopped by the downtown Nordie’s last night - it was a ZOO. I noticed that Nordie now carries a new shoe line by Ivanka Trump. The pumps looked like something I could wear, and the prices were reasonable as well. There were a few blingy designs that would look attractive to prom goers.

BB. Thank you!

Oh no! Clothing should not evaporate like that!

Alumother…the dress looks wonderful! Loved the cuff bracelet!
