[Women’s Sale - Apparel, Shoes and Accessories on Sale | Nordstrom](http://shop.nordstrom.com/c/all-womens-sale?cm_ven=twig&cm_cat=why_fall11&cm_pla=fof&cm_ite=932403)

Thanks for the reminder of the Nordstrom sale. Found a recital dress for D.

Ek guessed it right.
I did peek into the downtown store. Avoided the shoe department since it was a zoo. The damage has been done:

As you can see, I bought everying on sale (40-50% off) and avoided buying stuff made in China. :)

Pizzagirl, thank you for the scarf tying tip! I will have to look up that blog since I now officially own a second “handmade in Italy” scarf. My first one is actually a Hermes scarf (H’s Christmas gift; the design on that scarf has sentimental value). I have to learn how to tie them in a classy manner

Are HankyPanky on sale at Nordstrom?

Sevhappy, our local store had some boyshort style hanky pankies on sale (I think they were seasonal colors, blue, brown and military green). I’m not sure they were part of the big sale. Keep checking Bare Necessities, HerRoom, Fig Leaves, etc. - they regularly put some of these goofy named undies on sale.

lol, now you’ve got me wanting military green Hanky Pankies!

Military green undies are better than going commando, IMO ;)

BINGO. The red Burberry coat went on sale today, but my size disappeared from the site before I could add it to the shopping cart. Called around, and there is one on hold for me. I’m cautiously optimistic, but the fat lady has not finished singing yet. Not until I get the coat in my hands. :)

Speaking of commando. These are my D’s favorite undies. I found a great sale on them on Rue LaLa once but if anyone sees another sale, please let me know.

^ Those are really cool, cartera. I may have to order some.

Yessss!!! Big kudos to the Nordstrom SAs who held on to it for me. The lady who handled the payment said that after my call they were swamped with phone calls asking for this same coat. The coat is made in Bosnia, so I’m good. ![]()
Now researching Commando slips.

Eagerly awaiting your next dispatch, Bunsen.

Yay on the coat.

Question - do you think black leather coats are no longer fashionable? I have a great black leather coat, but I stopped wearing it a couple of years ago because I thought it looked somewhat - pedestrian. Leather is a great transitional material. In 50 degree weather it works well, but I just feel dowdy in my leather coat. Nice scarves help, but I am just not lovin’ the look.

I’d say full length standard leather coats are not on trend at the moment. However, at 3/4 length, or distressed, could be. And of course one is under no obligation to be on trend:).

wnp, long black leather coats must be still very much in fashion here in my neck of the woods. Every time I wear my full length leather trench (aka “kevlar” - yay, NM last call sales!), I get compliments from random folks and a few questions about where I got it. One Nordstrom SA kept following me around the store as if I were a suspected shoplifter… nope, turns out, she simply wanted to know where I got my “kevlar”. :)

sewhappy, I ended up buying a Commando slip to wear under dresses this winter. I got a longer lenghth, black one. It feels smooth, silky and not static-y at all. A small bonus: Commando undies are made in the USA.

As of this moment, my red peacoat is completely sold out online; I feel as a hunter who made the perfect kill. :)

Have decided that my coat this season will be a black and white hounds tooth with red lining. That’s the one I want. I see it very clearly in my mind. Any suggestions most appreciated!

The great thing about a leather coat is it completely blocks a cold wind.

I’ve decided to buy this Garnet Hill sweater dress, now on sale, to wear with my brown boots…

[Modern Merino Sweater Dress - Garnet Hill](http://www.garnethill.com/modern-merino-sweater-dress/womens-fashion/dresses/view-all-dresses/216513?categoryId=47022&fromCart=true)

Now, I’m looking for tights…the GH tights are $24, which seems to be a bit pricey. Anybody have alternate sources for tights?

Looking for basic cashmere pullover sweaters. Due to weight loss for dummies my old sweaters are a bit large. I prefer plain colors that I can wear a tank under.

I still wear my black full length trench coat too. I never considered whether it was out of style or not.

Mom60, check RalphLauren dot com. There is a ton of cashmere on sale, and today is the last day to get an additional 15% off using the code listed on their front page (I forgot what it is).
