Now, what do I wear with them. I bought a leopard print scarf which I thought I could wear with a black sweater but my sister says that is too much leopard. So what do I wear with them. I don’t want them to sit in my closet, a great pair of shoes that I can’t figure out how to wear!

Deb, I agree with your sister: that would be too much leopard. The shoes are a statement piece and should be the highlight of the outfit. Totally agree with Alumother: think solid colors and neutrals. If you want to wear the shoes with your black sweater with a scarf, IMO, a red or brick orange scarf would work look fabulous. Love the shoes! Sperry is indeed on a roll. Who would have thought that the shoe maker most known for its boat shoes would produce such head turning pieces?

I have a friend who wears a flat leopard oxford shoe - not sure the brand. She wears pants with the “riding” vibe, they’re in a warm creamy color and kind of stretch, end at the ankle. Then usually a white blouse or tee and a sweater in a warm sort of carmel color. I think the warm, neutral colors take the snarl out of the leopard vibe.

Really cute shoes! I can’t wear Sperry, not enough arch.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have lots of neutrals to wear so I should be fine. I love the idea of the red or orange scarf. I have to pick up my S at the airport on Weds and its near a Nordstrom Rack. Guess where I’m going?

They are my favorite shoes! I’m afraid I will have to re-sole them soon, because I’ve been wearing them all the time. Only the pouring rains were able knock these off my feet. :)

Yes, the “Vara” – that’s the one but guess what? Can’t seem to find it anywhere in the nude. Gorgeous shoe. Should have bought it last month when it was at Bloomingdales.

I’m wrong. It’s on the sak’s website. Yikes! $395. I’ve never spent that much on a shoe before. I’m not sure which color is the one that translates to nude and looks good with any color –

sewhappy, I’d wait until Wed night - some things might magically go on sale. I got my shoes from Bluefly for under $300. I think Bluefly sends a $40 off coupon to all who register on their site for the first time. And they periodically keep sending these coupons. Here is a very nice suede variation of the shoe:

Trying on jeans IMHO is about as much fun as trying on swimsuits, but now I’m intrigued. When I get a chance, I will make the trek out to NR to check out premium denim.

Would skinnies tucked into boots look like “mutton dressed as lamb”? I’m in my late fifties (Asian) but look about ten years younger and don’t want to give the impression that I’m trying to look like I’m in my thirties . . .

Thanks, Bunsen – I can see I’m overdue for registering on bluefly. Always hear it mentioned on Project Runway but have been too lazy to check it out. At the moment no Ferragamo’s in my size that aren’t up on stilts.

I have a perfectly nice pair of black pumps from Cole Haan several years old. I will wear my new necklace and watch and call it my holiday ensemble. Do have a vision of finding a wool coat in a nice green though . . .

My sister just told me she’d ordered these leopard print ballet flats for me for Christmas…and got them at 35% off—today only sale at Banana Republic. Said a friend of hers has them and they are quite comfy. I can’t wait!..What a nice sister!

I also need something with arch support and this felt great. I tried a couple pairs of their shoes while I was doing a search mission with my mom.

wnp, did you read my mind?! Wow, you are GOOD. I was about to post that I almost, almost bought these same shoes at Nordstrom a month ago! The animal
print shoe was sold out everywhere, so I settled for plain black one with a patent “croc” detailing. These shoes are comfy. :)

I have a couple pair of serviceable (not as fun as the link above) Munro shoes for work. Love the shoes in the link! I have very narrow foot even narrower heel and a high arch and the Munro’s fit me as do Ferragamos.

Oh, Bunsen - you have no idea how many shoes my mom tried on the other day. Fortunately, I started the adventure with the mindset that we would spend whatever time necessary to find comfy shoes for her. I amused myself by trying on some as well. It was a very, very long day. If I ever get the slightest hint that I am developing a bunion I will search for the best podiatrist on the east coast.

lol, my 85-year-old mom has been wearing the same pair of crocs with white tube socks for three years now. I take her shoe shopping, we buy shoes that she says are “so nice!” And then she goes straight back to her beloved crocs. I don’t mess with it anymore. She is doing her thing and at 85 I will be glad just to be standing and walking, I guess.

wnp - the munros animal print loafers are darling. I’ve never tried on a pair of munros. Will give them a try.

So here is my holiday dress, my new necklace and my silly new watch that I plan to wear to a couple events. I have the dress in the black. I need inspired fashion advice on stockings, footwear and coat. Also, some honest feedback on whether the necklace works with the dress. And is the dress too young for me? My DD looks like Audrey Hepburn in it . . .

Sewhappy, it is a great dress. Simple and elegant. I love it. You are definitely not too old to wear it. I’m not sure I would want to mix the necklace and the watch in one outfit. They are both fabulous, and either will work well with the dress, but I just cannot picture them together. Others might disagree. I think you need at least a tiny heel with the dress, up to 2 inches, not more. Because it is so classic (Hepburnish!), this dress, IMO, will not look as good with flats or stilts (lol at that definition) as it will with a lower heel.
