I love Loro Piana. I wear a fuchsia muffler of theirs that I bought in a rush, only aware of the cost at the register, to late to change my mind, right before a trip back East.

Have never regretted the purchase. Inordinate quality. That vest is glorious. Maybe I should go the vest route, not look for a jacket. Thank you very much for the pointer.

Alumother, SF is about as nasty in the winter as Seattle. I think shearling would be too warm, and it is a pain to keep dry when it rains. Loro Piana makes fantastic water resistant winter coats, if you are willing to part with $3K. Ahhh… I should not be dreaming about winter coats here on the sunny Hawaiian beach. I just walked 3 miles only to find out that the stupid little shopping center does not sell SD cards (mine got wrecked by the camera), but I bought an outrageous Luli Fama swim suit. I will never dare to wear it in public, but it will be displayed on my bathroom wall to serve as a gentle reminder to keep out of the candy jar - just like in that commercial. ;)

Love the vest. $5K is not, however, in the budget. How 'bout some of you great shoppers find one that looks as good but doesn’t cost as much?! Anybody ready for a challenge?

I love shopping outerwear. My DD just rolls her eyes and mutters, oh mom, not another coat. So am always looking for fun coats that don’t break the bank. This one has me intrigued. So truly tacky it’s kind of wonderful. And then there would be the enormous fun of wearing it when my DD is home from college . . .

This is for Alumother - another take on the shearling jacket by Brunello Cucinelli. The photo/video on Saks does not show the elegance of this piece. I saw it (touched it, tried it on, savored it) in NYC and it is sublime:

For JCrew fans, there was an email this morning with a 25% off plus free shipping for $150 order online (STYLE25) valid through Sunday, 9/30. You could also print out the email and use in stores. If anyone is interested I’d be happy to forward it. Just PM me your email.

I recently picked up a prana sweater dress and am just itching for the weather to turn a tad bit cooler so I can wear it with some tights and boots. I love fall. It is absolutely my favorite season!

Funny that you love fall. I live in CA but even so, I dread winter and thus resent fall. Oddly enough, one of my objections to cold weather is that I just hate socks. Hate em.

You’re such a rebel sewhappy! I am actually anti-shoes also Puzzled, and I’m in the mid-Atlantic which poses a bit of a problem. On the rare occasion I find the perfect pair that just floats my boat I’ll by things just to suit the shoes (backwards I realize). I had a pair of red driving mocs that I adored and collected red belts, purses, tops, jackets, etc., to coordinate. They died a natural death after about 10yrs of heavy wear. sigh

re: pants that fit us quasi-petite people (5’4") – Banana Republic petite pants – nice selection, not expensive, and I don’t spend time and money at the tailor getting 4 inches cut off. But not all the Banana stores carry petites.

Have not found anything appealing lately at Ann Taylor at all. I checked out the Burnello Cucinelli jacket – beautiful – then started browsing Saks other choices – for me, the price points and the look aren’t something I would wear everyday – more of a one of a kind special piece you’d mix in with your other clothes.

Maybe when I’m done paying tuition I’ll shop there more :)

Speaking of Banana Republic… There was a sale going on this past weekend, with 30% off already reduced stuff. There were some cute items on sale! And there is a 30% off event online today as well.

I got black grease on the canvas strap of my Michael Kors crossbody bag this summer. I thought it was ruined but I put Dawn dishwashing liquid on it and scrubbed away and it is now like new! Worth a try!

I have studiously avoided this thread, but I must comment. A few months ago I bought a pair of lowcut all black converse all-stars. When I was in Italy there were many teenage girls wearing the same shoes - in different colors, but the same shoes. :)

Sewhappy I tend to be cranky when it comes to clothes and spending money on clothes (I know BB you have schooled me repeatedly and I cry Uncle because you have a point that great things are worth the cost and we must support our artists and I agree!) and that faux shearling coat is IMHO Wonderful! OOooh I can just imagine wrapping up all snuggly on a leaf peeping crispy day with skinny jeans and a yummy soft turtleneck underneath. Mmm. Not too Jersey housewifey at all as long as the make up and bling are understated. (Says the ultimate non expert, but take it for what it’s worth which is very not much.)

So. Who is buying those brightly colored skinny stretchy jeans? I have to admit I kinda love them. Orange jeans? If only I were a couple sizes smaller. But the purple ones might work…

Also, I’m liking the fit of the Coldwater Creek stretchy knit skinny jeans. Anyone else? I’m 5’3 and the petites fit nicely on my chunky middle (aka “thick waist”) and stretch just enough to let me eat a meal.
