The Ds both wore Ariat paddock boots ( & muck boots) when they rode, & Ariat cowboy boots when they showed, but D is looking for boots that are tall, but not necessarily * tall boots*
I know I can find good boots for less than $500, but she is looking for leather lined & plain. They seem to be more expensive, the fewer the buckles, and straps and ties they leave on.

I agree that the Tractor is very popular. Its a nice, diesel place to hear music!

You learn something new everyday. Who knew Tractor Supply was a dressing young destination.

Alumother, looking forward to your blog post.

My style is very classic, preppy. What I need to do is buy less but buy more quality. It’s a struggle. I like to buy some trendy pieces to go with my classic style. But then honestly, I live in yoga pants. I get really lazy, I want to look nice, dressing young. Seems such a struggle sometimes.

I am trying to kick my addition to clogs. I want to buy cute flats and wedges but my problem is I have this thing for socks. I think that as soon as it gets cold I have to abandon cute shoes and put on sensible socks which invariably I pair with my baked potato clogs or similar shoes. I have a SIL who wears the cutest flats without socks all year round. I am jealous.

Oh my. Same here. And same on the clog addiction with socks in the winter. As I type this, I’m in Lucy yoga pants, an old Nordstrom cami, an Urban Outfitters pullover hoodie, a pair of socks my DD knitted, and my trusty clogs await me when I head out the door. Love to shop, but this is my real uniform through the cold. Will throw on a parka over the hoodie when it’s really cold.

Don’t do yoga btw – but love yoga pants. :)

I have a lot less of an excuse to shop for fashion now that I don’t hold a real “job”. I miss that sometimes. There is a sense of costume in dressing for the workplace, at least subtly.

“I agree that the Tractor is very popular. Its a nice, diesel place to hear music!”

Of course, The Tractor! :)

Does anyone know how Aquatalia shoes run - big, narrow, small, etc.? I am looking for an ankle boot to replace my recently deceased Sofft bootie (fall is here!), and this one looks very attractive at the moment:

I have a dressing young question. What do you wear when flying? Airports are such a great people watching place.

Honestly, I think some people (and this goes for one of my kids) look like they’ve been on a 3 day bender. I want to be comfortable without being messy.

Also, what do you wear when going from winter to a tropical locale?

When I fly I wear stretchy skinny jeans or leggings usually. I freeze on planes so I always have some sort of jacket with me. My flights aren’t usually all that long (2 hours or so). I might wear nice yoga pants if I had to fly overnight. From winter to tropical I usually wear jeans and a Northface fleece and shove it in my carryon when I land. I sometimes put shorts in my carryon- and maybe sandals.

I usually wear my Theory black cotton/lycra pants with sweater over a long sleeve top over a tank top and either ballet flats or stiletto’s, depending on my mood/size of suitcase. In my carryon I always bring pair of fleece socks, scarf and my fleece travel blanket (the ones the airlines use to give out for free) as I am always cold.

Bromfield, thanks! I guess that means size 9 for me.

deb, I dress pretty much as MOfWC described. I wear shoes that can be taken off easily with liner socks (to avoid bare foot contact with the yucky floors at the security checkpoints), skinny stretchy jeans or my favorite slim Burberry capris, tee or polo shirt, and some sort of a jacket. When I fly to HI in winter, I pack sandals and shorts (or travel a skirt which does not wrinkle easily, or even a wrinkl-less dress!) into my carryon, then change in the bathroom just before the seatbelt sign goes on for landing. The trick is to have clothes that do not wrinkle or get messy. Linen is a no-no for flying in my books. :)

I always bring one of Nordie’s pashminas with me - they are warmer than blankets, and can be neatly rolled into a tiny roll that does not take much space in my carryon. Another must-have for flying item is a pair of knee-high compression socks. :)

Alumother – brogues have laces. This is a problem for me. Only willing to tie my shoes if I’m going to exercise.

re: what to wear on the plane. I read once that you don’t want to be wearing anything synthetic if your plane crashes so I stupidly insist on wearing cotton, linen, cashmere, wool. It’s preposterous but I do it.

I like a pair of slouchy drawstring linen pants from Ellen Tracy I’ve had a gazillion years. Then a short or long sleeve tee under a zip-up hooded sweatshirt (usually from Target). I finally bought the cashmere shawl from Garnet Hill that Gourmetmom said was made of inferior cashmere (and thus in my price range) and use it only when I fly. It makes me feel good. Oh, and footies underneath Dansko clogs or sandals, depending on the weather.

I’m thinking of getting new luggage and have been starting to look at what’s out there. It seems ultra colorful is sort of in:

Did you notice that you can now log into Zappos using your Amazon account? However, when I did that, my order history and all saved info was not there, so I logged out and used my Zappos credentials. Love the free overnight shipping!

Sewhappy - get the luggage! Then, someday, I will be in airport terminal and I will see those happy looking pieces go around a carousel and as I look around I will spot a cute woman with tiny feet wearing cherry red Danskos, and shout,“SEWHAPPY!”

And then if the woman responds with a blank look, security and/or my spouse will cart me away.

I don’t recall saying that, and I’ve actually never seen a cashmere shawl from Garnet Hill. I don’t buy many shawls because I’m somewhat shawl disabled. No matter how artfully I try to arrange them around my shoulders, they always end up bunched up around my neck and I end up looking like a great grandma all bundled up trying to stay warm.

I have on my new gold glittery slipper-style Nine West shoes from Zappos today and I got 3 compliments just walking into the office. They look great with my JCrew Mini navy pants and patterned blazer.
