Chico’s was my go to store in my early 40’s. I know we’ve had this discussion before. They changed their demographics about 10 years ago or so. I like WHBM, but it’s limited. I find Nordstrom seems to be the replacement for me now.
I have to admit I don’t venture in Chico’s or WHBM. They don’t appeal to my fashion style. I have been in WHBM with a friend who looks great in their clothes. I’ve been impressed with the customer service. Though it makes me wonder if they are paid on commission.
I spent a couple of minutes back at page 1 of this thread. It’s interesting to read some of the early comments on no to skinny jeans and absolutely NO to leggings. Times have changed.
@conmama I used to love Nordstrom but I’ve become so frustrated with my local store and the lack of inventory. I have resorted to shopping mainly online and it’s just not the same. When I was a teen my Mom and I would go walk the mall.
I’m waiting for my Ugg slip ons and my Allbirds flats to arrive.
@Midwest67 let us know how you like the pants.
@deb922 I’m not a huge fan of slides. Though in my 20’s I wore Birkenstock’s and I’m tempted to try them again. I absolutely hate having anything between my toes. Flip flops are reserved for when I get a pedicure.
I’ve also found that things I used to think were hideous now I think are kind of cute. Ugg has a fuzzy sandal that looks like a two strap Birkenstock. https://www.ugg.com/womens-slippers/fuzz-yeah/1104662.html?dwvar_1104662_color=PCRY#start=4&cgid=women-fluff I think they are kind of cute.
Years ago I had a friend who owned a furniture and carpet store. I asked him who would buy the bright purple and other bright carpets. He told me you would be surprised but they are popular with seniors. I’m wondering if I’m now one of those seniors with the out there taste.
Speaking of Birkenstocks, Costco apparently is going through a slew of them. I saw a posting on Instagram showing they were online - 3 different styles and the price point was around $55 - one of them was sort of a slide. I just happened to be in Costco after work and I heard someone ask a store worker if they had them . He said they had some last week but that they went FAST. He also told her that the Ann Arbor store was going to be getting 100 pair tomorrow if she wanted to make the trip. 100 pair in Ann Arbor - those are history!!!
I also thought it was interesting that he knew what another store was getting.
No slides for me - I have to have a back. Don’t even like to do a flip flop type sandal.
I am perfectly fine with backless slides if they have substantialy more of an upper than just a strap that goes across the toes. I can’t stand any flip flops other than Oofos! Those I love.
BB, I think of you every time I put on my Oofos at the lake. They are the only flip flops I’ll wear heading out to the beach. And because they are supportive they are great for walking on the water’s edge where it can be a little rocky/gravel.
That gives me some pause about the Birkenstocks. It would be a great deal. I’ll let you know if anything about counterfeit Birkys and COSTCO litigation shows up in my retail law reporters. They’ve taken some hits for name brand jewelry (fake) and a few other things- And I’m a big COSTCO fan. Sometimes their distributor puts one over on them.
I can’t (or actually, won’t) wear slides or any type of shoe or sandal without a back. I feel like I am walking very weirdly to keep them on my feet- shuffling may be the best description, along with needing to scrunch my toes to keep them on. I broke my ankle years ago, and now I want to feel steady and confident with each step.
The jewelry thing I am aware was not fake per se, it was actual, high quality diamonds but misrepresented as “Tiffany cut” diamond rings. The defense that the trademark of Tiffany’s has been genericized did not fly. But it was worth a try! Cause what else coul they argue? I guarantee the manager who decided to market those rings as Tiffany’s got the nudge to the door.
I bought these UGG sandals, and find them very comfortable

I bought them in rose gold, but also cute in black
I think I need to take some of you shopping with me. I wear the exact same clothes I did in high school, 40 years ago. Jeans and feminine cut t-shirts. I have branched out a bit to longer sleeved shirts from REI, but that’s it. I loathe shopping. I don’t know how you guys do it. Those bright lights! So many mirrors! Ugh!
I think my online shopping has seen an uptick since the CC update! Because CC is basically unreadable, I keep looking at cute stuff online during my commute home. ?
@busdriver11 if you are happy with your wardrobe that is all that matters! I think the fashion questions on this thread run the gamut and I just try to take away tips that help me in my budget/style/fashion needs.
We were talking about jean jackets and I saw this from the gap that might be interesting. It’s a hybrid between a jean jacket and a shirt. And it’s an extra 50% off

I don’t like Tencel. It’s just a thing with me- nothing wrong with it. Otherwise, that jacket looks cute!
@deb922 , I cannot wear a thong sandal i.e. flip flops at all. I cannot stand something between my toes so I’m always wearing slides. A backstrap would be a good alternative for you, it seems.
I like these palazzo pants as well. Also on super sale. Might be FMO (for models only). Hmmmm…
I don’t like tencel because I find it shows every slight grease mark.
My D is visiting and her new jean jacket is Halogen brand from Nordstrom Rack. She paid $30 and it looks nice. It’s a blend of cotton and spandex. Has stretch but not enough for me to feel comfortable but I’m really picky.
@Midwest67 I wonder if you need to be 6 feet tall to pull off those last palazzo pants.
My Allbirds flats arrived. My regular lace sneaker is a roomy size 7 in the tree fabric. It’s a pretty loose fit. With that in mind I ordered the flat in a 7 and a 6 1/2. The 7 fits perfect in length and I don’t have any heel slippage. The wool insole is extremely well cushioned with added cushion in the heel. My only complaint is that the toe box feels constricting to me. Once again that is my weird desire to be able to move my toes around in my toe box. I’m going to keep them. I think they are more comfortable than my Rothy round toe flat.
Next up is to find some new shorts for hiking and a travel skort. My waist has slimmed down and my old ones are all falling off of me. Any suggestions?
Yeah… the 6 foot tall model sizing has let me down in the past. But it would be worth a try at that super price! BTW, Net-a-Porter has terrific free shipping and returns policy.
Thanks to CC, I have increased my online shopping! I am wearing the allbirds flats that I just received around the house, trying to decide if they are more or less comfortable than the Rothy flats. So far, they feel comfy but hot and the heel slips off a little on one of my feet. They recommend going up one half size. I think a 6.5 would be too small. The Rothy’s have more toe room but are not cushioned. Hmmm, can’t decide.
