The Kut From the Kloth I linked to above has side pockets.
Chicos is past its sell-by date, though, right?
Lol @MomofWildChild!
Although I’m not a big Chico’s wearer, I do occasionally find something I love there. I think their tanks are great, nice wide straps and they don’t ride up. They also wear really well. In the fall, I found the cutest top there, no one guessed where I bought it. I will also occasionally buy basic tees from there. The fabric is nice, they wash well and aren’t cropped which I sometimes like.
I like to think I’m pretty stylish
Lol, I think this thread began with some discussions of whether Chico’s was old lady’s style.
I agree. I work for a retail company and I get a lot of news- and Chicos is struggling. I was a BIG fan back in the 90s with the travel collection etc. My sister and I sort of soured on it (but agree that you can find a great item or two there) when one Christmas Eve church this 90 year old woman had on the same outfit as my sister did! We got a good laugh out of that.
I had to go to a casual bridal shower today. I really wasn’t sure what to wear!
Grabbed my black (Old Navy) Pixie pants, a White House Black Market sleeveless
black & white blouse (eBay!) that criss-crosses in front, and put on Bjorn black platform sandals (I can walk in them!). I grabbed a colorful bracelet and declared the outfit “good enough”!
It was simple & comfortable & definitely not frumpy. I have a few more months until I need to worry about what to wear to the wedding! Pants for sure though. Maybe palazzo pants? I’m not a skirt or dress person.
I bet you looked nice! Those Born sandals are comfy!
When is the wedding? Winter? Formal? Palazzo pants sound good.
Late October in Charlotte, North Carolina. Bride told me it could easily be 75 degrees. Not Black Tie. I don’t have specifics on the venue yet.
I’ve always considered Chico’s as where my MIL shops. Definitely not dressing young store. It looks like Target has reasonable priced jean jackets online. Target does a pretty good job of making less expensive clothing look good.

This is the silkiest softest thinnest jean jacket I’ve ever owned. It’s crafted and fits beautifully - the only jacket that does not make me fill constrained. Fabric is a blend of cotton, linen and silk. I was very hesitant to pay this price, but once I bought it, I never needed another jacket, and I stopped wearing the other ones I already owned. Unfortunately, Bogner is very difficult to find in the US, especially on sale.
Such a good price! “Mesh” in the description is a little off-putting.
Very pretty! “Mesh” looks like an overlay. Lots of good reviews, and the price is great! I would buy to see how they look IRL. Macy’s is good about returns.
Not a fan of Chico’s. A friend of mine and I always ask each other, “Are we old enough to shop at Chico’s yet?” And, we keep telling each other, “No , not yet.”
Honestly, what bothers me more about Chico’s is that when I go into their store NO ONE who works there says, “Hi, bye, or kiss my a$$.” I think their customer service is abysmal. Which surprises me because I LOVE White House Black Market (a sister company), where I find the customer service to be quite good.
I do not find their clothing very flattering. However, I am not a fan of flow-y clothing. I struggle with their sizing, too. Don’t like their number system for sizes.
Ordered! Thanks for the nudge, BB!
Let us know if you like them IRL!
Not palazzo pants, but my favorite fancy pants outfit was close enough - a wide pant leg jumpsuit with subtle beading on it. I toasted to New 2014 (?) in it! And also went to a couple of black tie optional galas in it.
The customer service at my local Chico’s is really good as good as WHBM for sure.
If I were looking for an outfit for a wedding I would take a look at the jumpsuit section at Nordstrom. They have a great selection of dressy options
I like the wide leg pants but think that they look a little more modern when they are a cropped length. Ankle length with heels looks very current
My Chicos too is the opposite of what you described @Hoggirl. Its like my local Whole Foods where I find the customer service abysmal. I know that’s not true for every WF but l always think of them as having bad service. I think of Chicos as having good service because mine does.
And with regard to Chicos, I find that there are a few things there that one can “ dress young” with but as a whole I agree that it’s an older look.
I have a question. I see slide sandals everywhere.
They are really hard for me to walk in. I feel like I’m shuffling. I have thin, low volume feet so it might be me.
So do you like slide sandals or not? I’d like a new pair of brown sandals but I need either something between the toes or a strap in the back
I’m a day or so past and just catching up to the new format but I have a decade old Old Navy jean jacket and it is my favorite…soft, sturdy, well made, loose not tight and a women’s jacket to fits at the hip. Love it. Don’t know if their “current” models are made as well. I have one from the late seventies still with Liberty of London print lining that gets hauled out now and then LOL and I still have the Liberty of London skirt that “went” with it. I don’t even think it has tag in it anymore but classic jean jackets last forever and I can still wear the skirt which pleases me.
