@4kids4us , did you leave it on inside? Also, how thin was your sweater? I think I need to find one. I’m glad you enjoyed wearing it! I’m looking forward to wearing mine again.
@collage1 , I’ll be at Macy’s tomorrow. Are your sweaters thin?
I also find I buy myself more than I normally would this time of year. I think with all the $$$ spent, what’s another few hundred.
I just ordered this cost. I need something longer to cover cardigans, or larger in the sleeves for when I wear blazers. Seems all my costs are short or more snug fitting. I do have one black one I love, but I still bought this fun one. I’ve been buying a lot of leopard lately…earrings, scarf, booties, now coat.
Agree, I buy for myself as there often sales and merchandise that make it tough to resist. I rarely shop and am looking, so figure why not.
I bought this—it’s much brighter than my usual dark travel wardrobe and I think it will add a nice accent. It’s soft, fuzzy and warm, plus it was the great price of $30 and I got an Rakuten rebate and free shipping.
For those who love statement coats and such have you considered Rent the Runway? My sister loves a statement coat or duster type sweater. She has rented some very expensive outerwear. She loves that she can wear a very expensive piece for awhile and return it for something else. She does the unlimited.
Last year I tried on a faux leopard print coat at the Ugg store. I had fun trying it on but I’m pretty boring when it comes to outerwear. I stick to solids. https://www.neimanmarcus.com/p/ugg-lisabeth-leopard-faux-fur-coat-prod215720166
That coat is awesome and so inexpensive! I just rarely have a need for a nice coat. I tend to wear my puff jackets in and out of the office or anywhere else I might go. Since I don’t go to many dressy places, that usually works.
Very cute boots.
I live in an affluent area but our shopping choices are weak. No Loft, no Ann Taylor, no JCrew. We just got a Target but it’s a tiny one with very little inventory.
My D’s like to get underwear in their stockings. I had bought for both at Nordstrom but when I was organizing I realized I had sent it all to my out of town D. I needed more so stopped at Macy’s. The store was depressing. The shoe department now looks like Payless. The lingerie department has gotten tiny. The rounds with the Calvin Klein underwear were just a three tier pile of underwear. No sizing or style just a pile of chaos. I spoke to the long time sales associate and she said they had taken out all her counter area and she had to use a box to fold and organize.
We have two small malls, both are down to just one large department store. We lost our other Macy’s two years ago and this year also lost Sears. They both also have lost a lot of the chain stores and it makes shopping in person difficult. It’s a vicious cycle as the stores have decreased the inventory so shoppers feel they need to shop online or go out of the area. The less people shop the less inventory the stores carry.
I am so sad that our downtown Macy’s will be closing next year. I loved that store… I would drag giant shopping bags full of stuff from their sales on the bus. I saw it shrink and become a shadow of its former glory… sad. I was never as sad abou the loss of Melvyn’s or Sears. Our flagship Nordie is not the same. I hate the remodel and the hospital-sterile displays. Miss the old setup.
Well the best part of having lost 70 pounds is that I don’t have to panic about the fact that I have to find clothes for three weddings and at least 3 showers to attend next year! Just ordered this dress! Thoughts on shoes that won’t be too uncomfortable but will look nice? The ones the model is wearing look torture-inducing https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/ted-baker-london-pearl-floral-long-sleeve-dress/5395483/full
I was also thinking of a block heel in whatever height works for you, @maya54. I can go to about 2" and be comfortable for an evening; higher and my feet just ache.
@maya54 , what a beautiful dress! I love the shoes @HouseChatte picked out. I wouldn’t have thought of snake skin, but that’s perfect. I do like the ankle straps, too.
Here is another idea. I have these and they are very comfortable. Although a wedge, they are sexy looking on.
