Nice dress! Wow. That is interesting. I’d be curious to hear your review of the dress when you get it.
I checked my local Lulu (online) last night and that sweater was available. I almost paid and did the pick up in store, but then decided I would drop by after work today and see it first. Well, I checked on it again today and it was gone. So- I ordered from the website and I can take it back if I don’t like it. It seems like it would be perfect for me for our new “dress for your day” dress code.
Also- I get more compliments on that grey and pink coatigan than anything I’ve ever worn. It’s a big hit. It’s still a little impractical for all day inside wear, but I try to eke out as many hours as I can.
That is a beautiful sweater @BunsenBurner . I love the color, it’s making me think spring!
@MomofWildChild , I’m wearing mine week, just for the 3rd time. I think you’re getting the most wear out of it!
So, I’m actually thinking summer for my Italy trip in September. (Jumping up and down with glee). I’ve decided I’m taking mostly dresses. Since summer dresses aren’t quite out yet, I’ve been googling everywhere. I actually found this at Amazon, and thought I’d give it a try. I love it, look at the price!
I’m pear shape and am always on the look out for slimming dresses and this is! I’m going to have mine hemmed though. On me, it hits right below the middle of my knee, and I prefer right above it. I bought the blue floral. It’s quite slimming, great weight. It looks exactly like the model on me, and that surprised me. Tons of colors, I might bet another for that price. It’s quite flattering in the tummy area, too!

Which size did you order @MomofWildChild ?
Do you have the link?
I think that coatigan is long gone, but the link is upthread here. It was from Loft and was on sale- called plaid coatigan.
@BunsenBurner I got a small. It looks more relaxed than some of the Lulu stuff which has such tight arms (for wealthy giraffes). I would love to take it to my church women’s retreat this weekend if it comes in time.
I ordered the perform legging from e Everlane. https://www.everlane.com/perform-legging
Not a fan, but they might be for someone else. I liked that they were more sustainable.
They reminded me of luxtreme from lululemon which is not my jam. They felt thin and showed more than I’m comfortable with. And more shiny, I prefer a matte finish. So if you are familiar with lululemon, they are thin and not compressive like aligns but shiny like luxtreme. Going back.
I also ordered this sweater https://www.everlane.com/products/womens-recashmere-button-crop-heathergrey?collection=womens-sale
I’m on the fence, it’s cute but really short and boxy. The material is not itchy, and it looked cute with high waisted jeans so I MIGHT keep it, but like everything else I’ve ordered from Everlane, it just misses.
Cute sweater @MomofWildChild. I have a merino wool turtleneck from lululemon from last year in a similar length. I should have sent it back as it’s really itchy. But this one looks like they might have improved it, I think yours is cashmere?
@Nhatrang , only an XL left.
Small it is for me. I am a tad bigger than you but it does look loose fitting, and I want less bulk (so I can wear it to work with slim pants). Ordering the pink and the black in Small. Thanks @MomofWildChild !
I need to vent about my aging body, Ladies! One thing that is really bothering me and is ruining the look of summer clothing is armpit fat. It’s come on slowly and I haven’t noticed that much before, but BAM it’s here! Any top or tank, dress…that has straps just looks awful. It just stands out and I’m considering trying to sell a couple of my favorite dresses because of it. I’m finding I’m scouring tops with sleeves for the first time. It just irritates me as I’ve always loved that type of top.
Those fat pads are even a little uncomfortable too. I’ll find myself lifting my arm and settling it back down to squish that pad forward…which makes it look worse. Anyway…just needed to vent, that’s all. I know, stupid to worry about…but it stops me from Dressing Young!!
Halter tops and property sized clothes (not squishing the body, just following it) work for me to reduce the “armpit boob” problem.
Thanks, for a long top like that i would need an xs. But i found some other tops that i might get.
Regarding the armpit fat - eventually we all will get them… I think the cold shoulder tops do a good job at covering the armpit.
I have to say also please embrace what you have.
Wear a dress with confidence and a smile and that’s what people are looking at. If it’s in the armpit area how much do others see unless it’s not fitting right or you are waving your arms above your head!
Yes, halter tops do help. Actually, maybe not waving, but putting my hands on my hips makes it go away. Maybe I’ll just walk around like Wonder Woman.
Don’t let it stop you!
I see women in their late 70s and early 80s wearing skirts, shorts, sleeveless shirts, shirts that expose their cleavage and ==GASP== swimsuits.
Do it! We &$^%* earned it!
I went to a class today that had 42 people, the majority women though we do get some men. We have some young moms but most of us are 50’s to a few in their 90’s. We have a 90 yr old who uses 10 lb weights in each hand. The instructor is 45. She addresses the arm and back fat issues. She said as women we will always have some arm jiggle but we can have strong beautiful arms even as we age. With weight training ( hand weights used to the point you feel the last few reps are hard) and Pilates we can have great looking arms. I have to say that many of us having been working out together for 2-3 years and we all have pretty nice looking arms and not a lot of back fat and most of us are stronger than when we started. I don’t think we have to resign ourselves as we age to long sleeves. Also wear what you want, do what you want and don’t let age, or what you look like in shorts, swimsuit or tank top stop you from enjoying life.
I bow to the 90 year old using 10 pound weights!
@BunsenBurner my AG shirtwaist dress arrived today from Amazon. I ordered it in two sizes, one size was $44 and the other $51. The dress is $198 on AG website, $229 on Nordstrom., since I made the Amazon order the price has been all over the map on Amazon. I can’t figure it,out but the dress is very nice. It’s a heavy knit 100% cotton. It is slightly figure fitting but still a shirtwaist dress. It will make a great travel dress. It seems authentic or a very good knock off. It was sold and fulfilled by Amazon. Very strange,
Well, I hope the two new pairs of pull on slacks I bought from Costco are youthful and I believe they are. They were $14.99 apiece and thankfully have pockets. I like that they have stretch so should be nice and multipurpose so I can comfortably exercise in them! H likes that they are at my natural waist as well (he never liked low rise bottoms—thinks they look odd). I like that the pants are thicker than tights or leggings but not too tight and revealing.
They’re these https://www.costco.com/gloria-vanderbilt-ladies’-pull-on-pant.product.100503697.html In navy.
And these https://www.costco.com/weatherproof-vintage-ladies’-slim-flex-pant.product.100507323.html in black.
I wasn’t sure, but brought them home and tried them on and I like them and H thinks they look great on me.
The Lululemon long sweater came today, and I also was at one of our Lulu stores this evening before a fundraising event at the jewelry store next door to Lulu, so I saw the sweater there before I saw my own at the house. I like it! Fits well and the arms aren’t too tight. @BunsenBurner I got some new Align tights in a subdued floral print at the store. They are mainly blue, but I’ll wear that pink sweater with them… It is a very pale pink.
