@HImom , those are nice! Looks like a great travel pant too, very comfy but stylish.
@HImom - does your costco have a place to try on clothes? Ours does not so am hesitant to buy.
Not at Costco, but as for shoes, I found these so incredibly comfortable that I bought them in 3 colors! (black, “aubergine” and blue) https://www.clarksusa.com/c/Sharon-Dolly/p/26136361
I live 5 minutes away from Costco, so it’s no problem to return next time we are there If I buy something that doesn’t work. I often buy whatever looks like it MAY work and give it a try. Sometimes I buy several—a range of sizes and bring back the ones that don’t fit.
I’ve never seen a Costco (or Sam’s Club) that lets folks try things on. Some folks come in form-fitting garb (like tank tops and bike shorts) so they can put things on over their clothes. I just buy and try things on at home.
Both pairs of pants fit me very nicely and both are easy care to machine was and dry on low. The Vintage Weatherproof has four pocket while GV only has 2 deep rear pockets.
I do think these pants will be good for travel and exercise.
I don’t think Costco stores have dressing rooms. Returns at Costco are so easy, I find that there is no need to try things on. I personally dislike trying things on in stores, even at Nordstrom, and much prefer to buy the item and try it on in the comfort of my own home. That’s why I shop in stores that are on my regular commute route.
@BunsenBurner What did you think of the long Lululemon sweater? I kept mine and have been wearing it (the pink) but I don’t think it is flattering on me at all. It looks like a sack. It is comfortable and easy to throw on with leggings, though.
@MomofWildChild completely agree with your assessment. It is a fuzzy, soft, comfy sack. I think that is how it is supposed to look. Not too fond of the pockets. They are not sewn in place and can flop around. I got the pink one but have not worn it so still thinking about it.
The pockets are not good. It’s just too shapeless.
Yes! IMO, it would have been better without the pockets! Plus, they are located at the middle of my hips, making my butt look wider than it needs to look. ?
I have a question. What kinds of shoes/socks are appropriate for ankle pants?
In the summer I wear them with flats or low heels. (I never wear high heels).
But in the winter, can I wear them with flats and socks, and/or booties, or is that a no-no? It doesn’t seem right to wear them with socks, and in the winter it’s too cold here to not wear socks.
Thanks
I would never wear any socks with any flats. I would wear socks with booties but only if the socks didn’t show (so a very low sock) or depending on the pant style if a bootie with a folded over winter style sock looked ok.

Wear them with slightly higher booties. It’s a great look and you can wear socks to your hearts content. https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/vagabond-shoemakers-mya-stretch-bootie-women/4978281/lite?country=US¤cy=USD&gclsrc=aw.ds&&mrkgcl=760&mrkgadid=3313959482&utm_content=9383573633&utm_term=aud-814275476834:pla-316852329045&utm_channel=low_nd_shopping_standard&sp_source=google&sp_campaign=645528200&rkg_id=0&adpos=1o1&creative=57187812113&device=t&matchtype=&network=g&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIpO2Gif7W5wIVjsDACh02qAf0EAsYASABEgLNUfD_BwE
Higher booties, yea. I think you can get away with a tiny sliver from the top of the bootie and the end of the jeans. But I would match your socks to the color of the boots.
If flats or sneaker, no show socks.
When we have lots of snow, so I go the bootie option.
Pinterest is great for showing how to wear pants with booties.
I really would like a bootie with a higher shaft, but since I’m sadly usually in snow boots and heels are hard in the snow, I haven’t bought any I like.
Again @maya54, those are really cute with a pretty low heel. Love them
Thanks. I have suede “loafers” and I think they would be fine in the spring/summer with no socks, but they just didn’t seem right for winter. I do have some booties that are a little taller (maybe they are actually lower boots - not sure where one starts and the other ends?), but they won’t work with the pants I’m thinking about. I’ll have to wait til spring to wear the new pants.
If the pant is truly cropped, I would only wear it in spring and summer with flats or sandals. If ankle length, then booties should work. I would not wear a shoe with socks that show.
I think the other way to go is to wild with the socks. Just own the look. But it’s almost impossible to actually find a photo!
^^^The way I see that look in that particular photo is not the same though. Those are not really ankle pants. Those are a pair of jeans rolled up to almost show off the socks…it’s part of the look. To me, that’s different than true ankle pants and socks showing, which generally doesn’t look so great.
If dudes can wear patterned socks with ankle pants, why can’t women do the same? If you go for patterned socks make sure the look says “yeah, I am making a statement here” not “I am clueless.”
Mostly the reason we can’t is that unless you’re young it will read as clueless not fashionable. Young people can wear grandma sweaters and look trendy. If I wear grandma sweaters my kids are like “where’s your cane?”
I decided to go ahead and find sneakers to wear on the plane to Italy (hopefully I still get to go in September). I had started a thread about what people wear on international flights. I wore sandals last time, to make room in my carryon. From others responses, I agree that is not a good idea for a variety of reasons. Having sneakers will also help out if it ever rains! I still plan on wearing my sandals if it doesn’t, but nice to have a “shoe” for foot issues, etc. I have plantar fasciitis so Ned to be able to put in my own insole, plus wide width. I can’t just walk into a shoe store and purchase sneakers anymore. So…I’m asking in this forum because I want to dress my feet young!
I’ll be wearing dresses on vacation. So, I want them to look nice with my dresses if I need to wear them. I won’t be wearing black, so want to keep my sneakers white. Do you think these are Cute?

I’m not up to much on fashionable looking sneakers. I decided not to do the Allbirds, as I’m hesitant about walking miles in them. Also, it sure if I can put in my own insole.
Yes, those are cute What about lace-less versions? Like this one? So much easier to deal with.
