Right there with you all…probably not going to purchase anything and wear what I have. Pretty casual lifestyle.
There is a scene in the movie ‘The Bird Cage’ where the always ‘casually’ dressed butler/house boy (Hank Azaria as Agador Spartacus) is forced to wear ‘real’ clothing and shoes. He he keeps tripping because he can’t get used to the shoes and is horribly awkward in the clothing.
I’m thinking of ordering a pair of Rothy’s if I can get the educator/health care worker discount (a one time 50% off - see the Good Buy thread). I was thinking of the sneaker (Gray Camo or Sand - lol, totally different!).
I’m usually a size 9, occasionally a 9.5. Looks like the website is quoting buy your usual size for the sneaker - opinions!?
@abasket I have the gray camo sneaker. I am the furthest style wise from camouflage print items but I love the look of that print. I think they are very cute. I wanted a pair of Hoka runnings shoes in a similar camo print but they so,d out in my size before I could order them. I bought them when I was in New York so tried them on in person. I will check the size when I head downstairs.
"Nordstrom said the pandemic, so far, has had a “substantial impact” on its business. It said it expects its results for the quarter ended May 2, and beyond, to be “adversely impacted in a significant manner.”
Nordstrom has already taken a number of measures to cut costs and raise additional liquidity, as have many other retailers. It has furloughed the majority of its workforce, suspended its quarterly dividend payment effective in the second quarter of 2020, drawn down $800 million on its revolving credit facility and halted share repurchases."
I think Nordstrom will make it, but they are hurting badly.
I went in a Rothys store a few months ago to figure out sizing. I’m true to size in the sneaker but needed 1/2 size up for the pointed option. Hope that helps, @abasket.
I had heard that about the pointed flat - that styling is not for me anyway!
I wasn’t able to get the educator’s 50% discount - it only applies to K-12 (and yes, they had a method of checking) or the health professional discount (you have to have a position with a licensure) so I’m going to hold off for now.
I’ll be honest, I’m finding more joy buying some things for our outdoor space right now! But at 50% off, it seemed like a good time to try them!
Anyone have a recommendation on a favorite pair of summer shorts? Looking for a step up from the biking shorts or cut off jean shorts I tend to lazily favor.
I’m not really a skort person. Love them in catalogs, but don’t love them on me.
@Midwest67, I think I have 5-6 shorts from Athleta. I have a couple of pairs I only wear over my swimsuits, but some I wear for normal activities. They offer multiple lengths which I like, and I don’t get the form fitting ones that I associate more with exercise.
@Midwest67 this is my favorite skort. It doesn’t look like a skort. I like to take it traveling as it is good for a hike or for a day of sightseeing or shopping. Lol I at least hope to wear it for those purposes again in the near future. It’s nice for when I want to step it up a bit from shorts but still keep things casual. https://www.toadandco.com/womens/clothing/skirts/Seleena-Skort?quantity=1&color=Black
I also like JCrew shorts. I haven’t bought any in a few years but they come in different inseams.
Now that the weather is getting nicer, I’m getting out of leggings and sweatpants. It’s the weather of course, but wearing more “real clothes” is helping me feel more human.
Now if I could do something about this hair…
Today, Sunday only. Spanx has a flash sale on its vintage distressed denim leggings. Half price, free shipping. Great deal, I’m tempted but I have to remember that I can’t buy every great deal I see
