Dressing Young (Part 1)

I have quite a few of the haystacks skirts. All of the ones I happen to have are the reversible ones, they are very cute, casual summer skirts.

@Hoggirl, if you email them, they might make you a longer dress. My sil has a pair of the pants and they made them the length she wanted, no problem. It’s a small business and whenever I’ve been in their stores, they seem very accommodating.

Also if you are anywhere near DelRay Beach, Florida, there is a haystacks store there. I like going into the stores because they have lots of cute ways to style the skirts. The dresses are cute, I’m short so the length is good for me

@cellomom2 @deb922

Thanks! I have emailed them asking a few questions. There are so few images of people wearing them and no images of anyone wearing the dresses, so it is difficult to tell. The skirts do look better. The reversible ones are especially appealing. I can’t exactly figure out how the no waistband thing works on the ones that are not reversible??

I appreciate the inside info. I am not tall - 5’4”, buy I am long-waisted. @deb922 - how tall are you? It is more a function of the wrinkles/texture of my thighs than the size of them or my height - even though I exercise faithfully! Boo, gravity!!! Also, that is the opposite coast from where I am (and farther south), so checking out the shop in DelRay Beach is not an option for me.

I think the pants are cute, too! Again, some list lengths and some don’t. Hopefully, I will hear back!

EDIT - also, the above was supposed to have read younger, “crowd,” not “crow.” Lol

@Hoggirl , I was just thinking the same thing about length of dresses. I have spent a couple hours online looking a very cute, summer, casual dresses I would buy in an instant, but they are too dang short! I also look for 36” - 37”. That seems to be the sweet spot for hiding my aging inner thighs, but still short enough to show my thigh muscles. Only part of my legs I like. I’m so sick of mini or midi to choose from.

Good to know they might lengthen dresses, but it would be great to see on a model.

@conmama - I may try one of the skirts. I also think the full pants are fun! They have a LOT of things on sale. Not much of a risk to try at a sale or clearance price.

Did you have any luck finding any dresses in those 36-37” lengths? I also MUST have a dress that allows for a regular or racer back bra (see gravity issue above - it’s not just a thigh issue ?) I have several dresses from Title Nine that I do like and wear often, but they are definitely sportier.

Shortness is a reason that I don’t buy Lilly Pulitzer either. Well, that, and they are big into those “shift” dresses. My body type cannot do that at all! I am not super chesty, but curvy enough that I don’t want a dress that makes my waist look as big as my girls!

I’m 5’1” but I fold the waistband of the skirt over. I’ll measure the skirts I have tomorrow and let you know the length. I usually wear mine about 3” above my knee.

I think the pants have a 29” inseam. They are too long for me, I would have to order a pair.

They have a Facebook page but I just looked and they don’t have many pictures of people in them.

Yes, that’s too bad they don’t show them on real models.

Ooohhh… another designer comes out with a line of face masks!

^love those animals prints.

Anthropology just put a whole lot on their website https://www.anthropologie.com/search?q=face%20mask&sayt=true

If we all have to be muzzled in public, why not do that in style! ?

Jumping on the joggers trend late.

I ordered a pair from Old Navy & I’m hoping for super comfortable & flattering enough.

I am in awe!!! I usually despise flats because they are so confining and terrible for the feet. Got these in the mail yesterday, and took them for a 3.5 mile walk on our dirt trail and then on asphalt… OMG. They were awesome. Now kicking myself that I did not buy a second pair.

My husband says that he was worried that I had Covid or mental illness because I have not bought a pair of shoes in a couple of months! Ha! Fixed that. ?

@BunsenBurner those are great! How does the sizing run? (I want to reassure my husband that I don’t have Covid or mental illness either, haha!)

My friend with narrow feet who needs arch support swears by that AGL brand of flats.

Lol! I normally buy size 40 shoes if they are a European brand, and this brand’s 40 fit perfectly (marked as 10US/40EU on the box). I am very pleased. They don’t have a lot of arch support, but they are very soft and cushioned making them very comfortable for walking. Also, the mesh and patent leather are lightly stretchable, so the shoes hug the foot without any rubbing.

Not sure if this is considered “young”, but I need 5” shorts, with color. I hope they fit, it’s always a hit or miss with any sort of bottoms. I refuse to go to the malls, which open Friday. I wish I could still wear 4” shorts, so many more styles, but the insides of my thighs look rippled (not sure how to describe it, they need a lift), and each year it seems to get worse. Argh!

Ouch @deb922

@conmama, not sure if this fits the bill for you, but JCrew offers a variety of colors in a 5" inseam. They tend to fit pretty true to size. I wear the 7" - I wish my legs were still good enough to wear 5" ?!

^^Those are very cute shorts. While my legs are in good shape, I can no longer wear shorts that short.
