mafool, oops, I did not mean to brag :o I was just sayin’ I was shocked that size 6 skirt fell right off of me, so I went all the way down to 2, and it was still too big (they stretch a bit, too). I’m curently a US size 6 (42 Italian), size 27 waist - for calibration. The one I tried on was is a dark wash NYDJ pencil skirt. It was a real bummer because I heart denim pencil skirts, and it so hard to find one that is not a mini skirt! Arrgh!

I know you weren’t bragging, BB! Thanks for the calibration information!

I’m lurking on line because I am enthralled by the eagles; one of the eggs is close to hatching.

Go EAGLES!
(that’s really neat)

This thread title, on my mind, generated a really funny (ha ha) experience today. My H is a sharp dresser, and inspired by him I’m also trying to upgrade a bit. We shop ebay and resale/consignment clothing, so none of this is expensive. It’s more like hunting and bagging game.

Anyway, we’re also processing our aging and encouraging each other to accept change gracefully. That was where we left the convo this morning. He was telling me to wear comfortable shoes to our son’s upcoming wedding, and not suffer in high heels…what a darling man.

Then, on his way to work, H phones me from the car (on the cellphone, bad) shouting by speakerphone, urgently, “Younger Clothes! Younger Clothes!”

I thought he was having an epiphany or bossing me around, not sure what, until I realized. We live near Youngs Road, and the town set up a detour today, delaying traffic significantly.

He was shouting into his phone, “Youngs is Closed! Youngs is Closed!” so I wouldn’t be late to work.

P3T - I am buying a pair of these for DD’s wedding next summer. I have a pair in another color and they are really comfortable. I have no idea what my dress will be - but I am stocking up on shoes!

Sorry… I don’t have time for 124 pages of reading right now. I LOVE all 3 of those black & white dresses, but I am almost 47. Don’t you think that is too old to wear any of them? Especially that first one (which of course is my favorite). I’m size 8-10ish if that makes a difference.

Thanks for catching me up! I haven’t enjoyed shopping in the last 15 years and my son is graduating so there will be lots of parties soon.

^

You’re 47? That’s young. I’m 52 and I would have no problem wearing any of those dresses.

Allthis:
I sure hope not! I have one of them and I’m 56! But I have the second one; I think it is a size 8. The dress flows over the hips and falls very gracefully.

You inspired me to stop at the local Macy’s to hunt for RL dresses. The picking were very slim, but I managed to get a gorgeous black dress [url=http://www1.bloomingdales.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?upc_ID=708902&ID=473153&Quantity=1&EXTRA_PARAMETER=BAG&PseudoCat=Cat14952%20Day%20:%20ba-xx-xx-xx.index]Lauren by Ralph Lauren Dress “Adara” Gathered Empire Waist Dress/url and a white pencil skirt. The sales associate took 20% off but forgot to remove the security tags. I walked out of the store without setting the alarms off. Thank goodness I went to Nordy’s before going home - it was really embarassing to walk into the store acoompanied by the loud beeping! I hurried back to the Macy’s where a really nice sales lady took the tags and another 20% off ! RL dresses run true to their size (I got a 6), RL skirts are HUGE (I got a 2, and a 0 would have been even better)! Shhhh… I have sinned - I bought the Burberry bag. My computer fits into it, and I’m already in love with it. I will have to eat PB&J and water for the next two weeks to compensate for the money I spent today :D

BB: 27 " waist? I hate you. (JK)

Allthis…

You should be able to wear any of those dresses in a size 8 or 10. How tall are you?

Maybe this thread is exactly what I am needing.
I am losing weight (28 lbs now) and just moving from the women’s sizes to the regular sizes. I love a couple of those black/white dresses.

mousegray - I wear 27in waist pants, but my real waist is more like 29 inches. IF I pull tightly:). That child-bearing gig killed my waistline for good…glad we aren’t wearing high waisted so much these days or I’d be taking in the butt endlessly.

which Burberry bag, BB?

mafool, it’s the one I talked about in the travel bag thread - this one:

pretty!

10 char

Paying3tuitions,

Your line -

Just made me belly laugh a long time - yes, that’s exactly what shopping can be - I think of it as indulging our hunter gatherer instinct.

I feel as if I missed an important post somewhere with the three black and white dresses that have created such a sensation on the thread. Can someone re-post the links?

And finally, Not Your Daughter’s Jeans is really, really quirky with sizing. I bought my first item from them last week, the white straight cropped jeans in a 2 was a perfect fit. In denim-colored, they fell off. What was interesting is that they were out of size 0 because it was sold out! For reference, I still have trouble fitting into my old,old size 8’s and 10’s from the 1980s. I’m 5’5" and 120-125.

Ahhh . . . very nice, especially with tan. Will never go out of style. Thumbs up!

But too swirly for me. Can’t do swirly.
