Dressing Young (Part 1)

Not a skirt - but I love this

[White House | Black Market - V-Neck Leaf Print Dress](http://www.whitehouseblackmarket.com/store/browse/product.jsp?maxRec=44&pageId=1&viewAll=true&productId=570000204&prd=VNeck+Leaf+Print+Dress&subCatId=&color=&fromSearch=&inSeam=&posId=12&catId=cat210002&cat=Dresses++Skirts&onSale=&colorFamily=&maxPg=1&size=)

And yes, I am avoiding work.

wow that’s pretty. Have that store in a nearby mall I think - since I’m looking for black and white…might be a good place to try. Will work out today and go tomorrow…maybe I’ll drop a few lbs.

wip…I think we both work for ourselves from what I can tell. A blessing and a curse. This is NOT supposed to be free time for me :)

Yup.

Also - DH is the director of a non-profit and has not had an assistant since December. I am doing a big chunk of his grant writing (no $$/no credit) and sometimes I just need to goof off.

The v-neck leaf dress is pretty - reminds me of BCBG.

I am a sucker for black and white print.

I already have this

I probably shouldn’t get the WHBM dress, too…(I like the shoes on that model)

Pretty! Do you think they have that in stock if I go to Bloomies? Not far from here. I’m getting tired of returning things…:)

Sometimes I think the execs never go inside their own stores. When I was in my late 20s, I truly used to buy my work clothes at Talbots … now, as some of have said, our own mothers and MILs consider their clothes “too old.” If the execs went into their stores to see who was actually shopping there, they could decide if it’s the demographic they are trying to reach.

2 thumbs up on both black & white print dresses. You could be personal shoppers.

toneranger, seeing that it is marked down now,you might want to call first.

It is a really comfortable dress! And dressy enough that I’ll be able to wear it to afternoon weddings.

I am still debating the shoes on the WHBM model…while trying to get some work done.

Remember how back ages ago when we were pregnant, there were maybe two maternity stores? (Unlike now when Gap, Ann Taylor Loft and Target all have maternity wear) Well, in 1992 when I was pregnant with D, EVERY SINGLE DRESS IN EVERY SINGLE STORE was black and white. That is before we wore slacks to work and I truly had five black and white maternity dresses. D is 17 now, but haven’t bought a black and white dress since then! (I admit that both of those dresses to which you provided links are very cute but I still have had my fill of black and white dresses!

Love both dresses! Bloomie’s also has the blue dress that sold out at Nordstrom in 24 hours. Gotta get that dress! Where is my Amex?

I also like the shoes on that WHBM model, but I will not be able to make a single step in them. Sigh.

Allright, that cute Bloomies dress is available in…size 4. Yeah right. I’m still working to get to a 10.

And those shoes with the leaf dress. LOL…I would be about 6’4 with those on.

I’ll go out to the outlet mall tomorrow and try some dresses on. I’m guessing that I will walk out wishing those 10 lbs I’m trying to lose were gone. Really trying to avoid the mumu look though…a few lbs over shouldn’t bump me into one of those right?

I went down a size in that bloomies dress.

Toneranger, here’s a differnt version that is available in your size.

[Lauren by Ralph Lauren Dress “Kim Trellis” Floral Gathered Dress - Dresses & Skirts - Bloomingdales.com](http://www1.bloomingdales.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=473150&CategoryID=16422)

I think I like it better!

lol - yeah, Chico’s can be rather “festooned”

I have the traveler’s separates - the dress, skirt and a jacket all in black. They are boring, no question but really flexible, never were really in style so don’t seem to go out.

Can’t wear the jeans tho. My daughter laughs. The waist hits me too high. I like the Nordstrom Not Your Daughter’s Jeans in the straight cropped. Just got my first pair the other day in white.

Toneranger, I tried on a skirt at Nordy’s recently that sounds like what you’re describing. It was one of their own brands, jersey, swirly, just below knee, came in a small black print and also a floral. I really liked it but am to short for swirly.

OK. So went to the home center to return a mirror. Bloomies is real close. Stopped in and…BOUGHT A DRESS. Mafool…the one in the second link. Yes, sizing is generous and the fabric forgiving. And it hits right at the knee, covering those ugly fat pads. Cool.

Now I need a fake tan and I would LOVE to lose 5 lbs. We’ll see.

Anyway, THANK YOU Mafool and everyone else for your suggestions. I feel like I have a personal shopper team for sure! It’s great cause I don’t have a DD, or a mom, and my sis has ZERO interest in clothes.

toneranger:
sewhappy: A friend’s son calls those “festooned” pieces “figure skating outfits”

If you like pencil skirts, check out NYDJ denim pencil skirts! Both Nordy’s and Zappos carry them. Very, very cute and flattering; unfortunately, the sizing is too generous - their size 2 was too big for me. :frowning: What’s up with that?

BB-stop bragging!! No, really, what size would you say is “normal” for you so we can calibrate?

I read through the reviews on those skirts and a lot of ladies are complaining about inconsistent sizes (black fit perfectly but white was too big in the same size for example). They’re cute.

Anyway, I browsed a bit and I also like the ankle length pants. But they’re a bit high cut and I really don’t need the tummy panel…so maybe another brand would be better.

I’m not gonna talk about sizes…lol…other than to say that the smallest I’ve EVER been was a 7/8 and that’s when I was a string bean. I have large bones…which I’m happy to have now that we’re heading into osteoporosis territory.

hurray for bones!

Mine are not large; I just hope they are as dense as my brain is some days.
