I ordered that AHA souffle stuff (dressing young for the skin - great thread).

Still not at all comfortable with my knees. But today, I noticed that although my ankles are thicker than I’d like - I don’t really have cankles. There’s some definition for sure. Def not Hillary. That’s good news. So I am planning to wear a skirt or dress for graduation…just not the maxi mumu that I sent back yesterday.

I’ll be looking for that Physician’s Formula stuff at my drugstore tomorrow.

Spiegel…hah. I haven’t ever ordered anything from them but somehow, I get their emails. Yes, tall ladies with clingy wear and their hair blowing back in the wind. Lots of cleavage. Not sure who buys that stuff…

Final note. I sent my CAbi stuff back today too. White jacket was way too big on me (the rep told me it ran small) and the trench was nicely fitted but I looked REALLY pale in it. Oh well. I return a lot of stuff :)

I like these. I am hoping they carry them in our Walking Company Store - I would rather try them on before I purchase. After reading the link about what types of shoes flatter thin ankles, I realize that I always gravitate to shoes like these because shoes that are more substantial make me look like Minnie Mouse.

I think these look dressy for a flat sandal - hoping they look the same IRL.

I like these.[Carmen - Dansko Shoes & Footwear - Lilac Crinkle Patent - TheWalkingCompany.com](<a href=“Comfort Shoe Brands – WalkingCo”>Comfort Shoe Brands – WalkingCo) I am hoping they carry them in our Walking Company Store - I would rather try them on before I purchase.
Stop obsessing about your knees! I think that knees are a realtively unattractive part of the human body…I don’t recall ever looking at anyone and thinking “wow! he/she has beautiful knees!”

Those Dansko Carmen sandals are darling - I want a pair.

The clear mascara idea sounds completely brilliant.

Re: Knees - mine are okay but I definitely have veins on my lower legs. Why is that? Some of my friends the same age have none. My mom has none.

Sorry for the double post - not sure how that happened!!!

Nope - not obsessing about knees. Legs are not the problem - I just realized that certain shoes do look better on me than others.

On another note - got an ad from The Limited promoting “shorts and rompers.” Oh, boy. A return to the jumpsuit things we wore in the early seventies. I had two “rompers” for the summer when I was in college. They were cute, but going to the bathroom was not easy! There is one in the ad for The Limited that has a little sash - I KNOW that is a problem.

Yeah, the rompers are very gymsuit-esque. My D has tried some on, but to be cute at all, the shorts need to be really short, then it’s not in school dress code.

I’m the one obsessing about knees… With all the squats I’m doing, I may wanna show em soon.

wip…the sandals are very cute. I guess I should stay away since I have thicker ankles?

Saw something today on the popularity of “jeggings.” Did we talk about those? This piece said they were primarily for the young and fit, but that fit 50 plussers might be able to get away with them. One rule…always hide the butt. I think I’ll skip them.

Does anyone have any suggestions for where to get cute dresses or skirts that are around knee length or slightly below? (especially on long legs) My arms and neck are fine so sleeveless or lower cut would be OK. I saw a women with a swingy black skirt yesterday that just hit the knee. Looked cute…she wore it with a fitted top and bright color patent leather pumps.

Have you ever come across Chico for dresses and skirts? They have the longer length skirts and dresses in the sort of fabric that never wrinkles and all the waists are pull-on so quite comfortable. I have a dress and a skirt from chico, both of which I wear frequently - winter or summer.

That’s what I was thinking, missypie! Maybe some Chico’s execs took a look at this thread and added new twists to their styles to make thm look more appealing to the dressing young crowd. LOL!

Hey I like that white polka dot dress. Motivation to get my knees back! Would def need some help with a fake tan. Maybe a little short too…not sure. Would love to try it on! ( I like that site…will bookmark it for future reference!)

The swingy knit skirt is cute in carbon…but it’s not available until 5/21…a week after graduation. I was hoping for something more summery but it looks like a great every day skirt - very comfy.

I generally don’t have any luck at Chicos. And I have a couple of those really long coldwater creeky type skirts in my closet…which can look cute with flats and fitted top. But I am SO SICK of that look. And I don’t think I need to hide my legs THAT much. And I’m not sure about Dress Barn…haven’t been in there for years.

My ideal skirt…the one I see in my mind…is a black and white print…maybe floral…fitted on top but with some swing to it. Right at the knees or just in the middle of the knee. With a fitted black top and patent leather ballets. Any ideas?

I agree with mafool about the Chicos jeans, especially since they have those “half” sizes (1.5, 2.5 in their sizing system) that help me out a bit.

I had to look at the glittery Chicos thing hanging in my closet that I wore to my HS reunion and laugh - definitely not the style nowadays!

There is a Dress Barn outlet in the outlet mall nearby. Every time I walk in there, I get depressed because their clothes look hideous and shapeless, so I walk out really fast and end up in the CK, RL or Burberry store! Then I get depressed that I cannot afford anything from that Burberry outlet at 50% off! LOL!

Yes, mafool…that was me. I went to a CAbi party and my friend was wearing it. She’s not quite as tall - and it came above her knee. Quite a bit above. She didn’t have it in my size so I couldn’t try it on. Probably should have tried it instead of the two things I ended up sending back!

Thanks though…it’s pretty much on target. Great skirt. .
