Is there a facebook group or group me we can join if we’re going?
my son got accepted!
@GetMeOutOfHS I just made a fb group. There’s no school-sponsored one
Hey guys! I made a facebook group so we can get to know each other better. Just search “Drexel University Class of 2024”. The banner is the dragon statue. CC won’t let me link it
waiting on Drexel to send out acceptance letters for reg decision, this school does not seem to get any love at CC
@NJdad07090 You’re right - Drexel doesn’t get a lot of love here. It’s expensive, and at first glance, it seems not to justify the cost. I have twin Freshmen there this year. They were both accepted at multiple schools, with merit and with offers of Honors colleges, and both elected to go to Drexel because of the Coop program. When they graduate, they will both have at least a year or two of paid work experience in their chosen fields, and a really solid idea of what aspects of their careers are most appealing to them. They have found that they already have had a TON of experience in just this first year alone. I think it takes a certain kind of kid, maybe, but both of mine were pretty clear in what line of work they wanted to go into, and are finding this to be incredibly rewarding. I’m pretty impressed so far, even though I would have sent them to small liberal arts colleges if I’d had my way! They obviously know themselves better than I do, as they are both flourishing. Feel free to ask questions
@Britmom5 , thanks for the reply, I have heard Drexel is pretty good with merit, did you find this the case? How easier or hard were getting Co-ops? It just seems a little harder to plan for money w the co ops , do the just pay R&B w no tuition when on Co-op
@NJdad07090 Drexel is really good with merit, but it doesn’t really help with such a large overall cost. I got around $30,000 in merit, which is more than any other offer I’ve gotten, but still makes it way too expensive for my family. Keep in mind, I got pretty much every scholarship they offer (Drexel Grant, Alumni, Westphal Portfolio, Founder’s Scholarship).
For payment on co-op, you do not pay tuition, but you may pay room and board depending on where you live during that time. You do have to pay University fees though.
My daughter applied mid-December. She had her heart set on Penn State (she got in in November), but once she visited Drexel, it’s now her #1. She feels like she’s been waiting forever! We are very blessed in that we are military and Drexel is a yellow ribbon school and our cost will be minimal. She has good stats-4.2 weighted GPA, partial IB diploma with 11 AP/IB classes under her belt. National Honor’s Society, ASL club treasurer, ASL Honor’s Society, Best Buddies. She hopes it’s enough! Hope to hear soon. We are in DC, and she wants to be far-but not TOO far
Any clue when decisions will be released?
My guess is this Friday.
Drexel Admissions posted on IG that decisions are ready to be mailed out. Does anyone know if it’s available on portal sooner?
Last year, Drexel posted a similar video online on March 19 and online decisions were released on March 21. If I had to guess, I would say that Drexel’s decisions are coming out this Friday.
Accepted!
Accepted!
Was there any scholarship info on portal?
@Riles2003 I’m from EA, but it should be under the “Financial Aid and Scholarships” tab on your portal. Then there’s a table with scholarships.
@Riles2003 scholarship info is available for RD
I only see FB groups for either just students or a parent group for the class of 2023. I’m unable to find yours.
whats the major ?
