Drexel university vs MSU for Mechanical engineering

He is accepted to both MSU and Drexel university. The coop program in Drexel is very interesting and he is showing more interest towards the 5 year program.
vs my guess is MSU is a known good college for Mechanical engineering. I also think the internship or research options here might open up more opportunities.

Tuition fees does not play a role as both are almost equal for him. Any suggestions please?

MSU as in Michigan state university

My son goes to Michigan state engineering and he is loving it especially the core engineering housing… all engineers live together first year. There is also if I’m not mistake internships and a coop at MSU as I’ve seen parents post about it on the Facebook… MSU engineering facilities are impressive and they are spending 850 million on new facilities for engineering

That’s really good to hear, is the coop program similar to Drexel. They have a 6 month coop program starting from second year of mechanical engineering. Do you think even MSU will have such similar opportunities?

To be honest, I was not so impressed with the drexel eng building. MSU building was really good and their lab/racing projects were great too.

Though the buildings make a diff, i am looking for your inputs on career or opportunity perspective.

To be more clear, 6 month coop program starting from second year of mechee for 3 years if we opt for 5 year graduation program.

Outside of the classroom MSU has a lot to offer an undergrad. School spirit and team sports. Vibrant community.

You should not be fixated on the coop… all universities will have internships and coop but MSU will offer a lot of research opportunities… and as private banker states the schools spirt… to be frank to me Michigan state would be the choice because of their resources and campus life. After visiting MSU I became a huge fan of a campus setting… At the end it’s your choice

This might help of job placement

My son is in ME at MSU and loves it. In terms of co-op it is available, but it isn’t like Drexel where everyone does it. I don’t know the percentage of engineering students who co-op, but it is not as high as the number of students who do summer internships. But they have a co-op office and companies come in to interview for co-op positions. I wouldn’t make that the key factor in deciding where to go because MSU and Drexel are going to be very different in terms of size, location and general feel of the campus. If they cost the same I’d focus on where your son will fit better.
