Driving a nice car at USC

I’m a little bit hesitant to take my car to USC as it’s known for being a bad neighborhood. I have an 09 Audi A4 and I was wondering if it would be a good idea to take my car to USC.

Let’s not forget that two USC kids were killed in April driving a BMW.

[USC graduate students in BMW fatally shot in possible carjacking - LA Daily News](http://www.dailynews.com/news/ci_20369823/usc-student-man-bmw-fatally-shot-attempted-carjacking)

Since I’m a new student, I was wondering about your opinions on this

My daughter has a nice car and she is still alive. It is a personal choice if you need/want your car.You may like being on campus and not going anywhere. You may be the type to want to drive to laguna beach for a burrito on a Saturday.

Plenty of students drive nice cars. Plenty of students drive junky cars. Plenty of students drive cars that are in between.

The students who were killed were not in an area that most USC undergrads go to often, if ever.

Your car would blend right in if that’s what you’re going for. I don’t mean that in a bad “rich spoiled” connotation, but obviously there is an extremely large number of very nice cars at USC so there are a lot of individuals alive still driving their very nice cars. Don’t worry at all.

The students who were killed in a BMW were sitting while double parked at night. Just don’t double park.

Chill out, take your car.

By USC standards an Audi A4 is average, you have no need to worry. Just don’t drive into bad neighborhoods way to the west or south of campus at night and park your car in the street (don’t do this in any large city for that matter).

Sorry this may have been asked long ago, but where is the best place to park on the street, off-campus for free, just for half a day?

Anywhere on the north side of campus that isn’t metered. Might need to go 1 block north of Jefferson to find non-metered parking.

Perfect! Thanks K!

A4’s pretty average at USC… I’ve seen an Audi R8 GT parked on campus, and plenty of porsches/maseratis. The two students were way far from campus.

Car theft is almost nonexistent at USC. Just don’t leave anything valuable in the passenger seat.

Please stop repeating the garbage about the murder victims being targeted because of their BMW… it was a modest used car with a resale value barely 1/3 that of your Audi.

There also is no evidence it was really a carjacking and other reports are that the vehicle was old. If it WAS a carjacking, it makes no sense to botch the job by shooting the victims IN the car and they leaving the scene–there was no evidence of any struggle or resistance either. Why not push the victims outside of the car & then the car could have been taken away easily with no blood in the vehicle?

When we’ve gone by USC & been on its campus, we have found all kinds of cars–lots of very nice ones as well as older cars and everything in between. If you’re concerned, why not leave your car home & you can always go back home & get it later in the year if you decide you need it & would be comfortable with it on/near campus. Our S drove a BMW at USC (it was also an older car). He never mentioned feeling uncomfortable or unsafe.

@OP, maybe it’s because you’re from the country side but an A4 is a toyota camry in LA.

pls go

A three year old, entry-level Audi at USC? Pshaw. Your car is safe here.
