driving out of state with a restricted license

We have restricted licenses with limits for 16 year olds and I believe they are upping the age soon. Even in rural states there are cities and interstate highways. I cannot imagine a 14 year old having the maturity or good sense to handle that. Physical size has nothing to do with it. A women that’s 5’ 3" would be considered above average in our family!

In Michigan they can get a permit at age 14 yrs 9 months which allow them to drive with a parent. At sixteen they get a restricted license. I’m all for it. That means that they drive for over a year with a parent and by the time they get a license you’ve been through all four seasons with them and have taughted them well. Between the three of mine, there has only been one minor accident (not their fault) and no tickets. I’d hate to set them loose at sixteen on their own.
