<p>Is it a good idea? Or does dropping out erase your GPA altogether? If I stay the course with this semester I will have a max of 3.39 GPA for transfer to AU. 3.5 is better and reflects my true abilities. It’s this damn math class this semester that screwed me up - I got an F in it. Everything else is mostly fine, but the F will kill me in the transfer process. If I get out now can I salvage my plans? Please help, this is urgent.</p>

<p>You need to verify the grades policy at your current school – but it is late in the year now and it is possible you will have an F or WF in that class. Your best case scenario is probably a straight forward “W” in that ONE class if you withdraw in time. I don’t see a total “wiping out” of that semester’s GPA, that’s not how most colleges work.</p>
<p>Honestly, even a whole semester of Ws is not going to look good for AU–dropping out is dropping out and a 3.3 vs a 3.5 is significant but not necessarily mountainous. How are the other grades this semester? You might want to take an “honest F” in the math class and explain it on the transfer form. You’d have to explain dropping out if you did that and it is sort of a tie which is worse–a single F in math vs dropping out of an entire semester.</p>
