So let me explain my situation. I was a CCC transfer student that went to UCSD but then took a leave of absence due to major depression and family hardships but now I want to continue my education again. I want to be a PT and major in Kinesiology. However, my counselor told me that I might have too many credits and won’t get accepted into any public California colleges meaning no CSU or UC schools will accept me. She said she wasn’t completeley sure and contacted a transfer counselor about my situation. Is this true?
The UC’s do have maximum cap limits which are listed here:

For the CSU’s, I have not been able to find a comprehensive list of their maximum unit caps so you might have to contact each CSU campus of interest. The CSU’s tend to be more flexible but all will require you to complete a specific number of credit units while in residence.
Here is what CSULB states: * While there is no specific limit on transfer courses, students must satisfy the University’s 30-unit residency requirement to earn a CSULB degree.
is that counting the credits i took at CCC + UCSD or is that just the units I took at my CCC
Total units: CCC + UCSD but CCC credits are capped at 70 semester/105 quarter units.
ok i understand now it’s because i completed a good amount of units already at ccc i see. Thanks for your help!
Can you go back to UCSD since you took a leave ? Or is there zero desire ?
Just thinking, if possible, it might be easier.
if you want/would go back to UCSD then see Returning to UC San Diego After an Absence
For UCs, lower division non-UC credit is capped at 70 semester units for this purpose. Then UC and upper division credit is added to determine whether you have too much credit based on the numbers in post #2.
