Dropping a class TODAY?

Hi, I am currently a humanities major who was hoping to get into the business school next semester so I took Math 220. However I am doing horribly in the class (a D) and have decided I no longer want to go into business (and do no even need to take math for a core since I placed out of that with my SAT score). Plus the major I am looking into doing (hearing and speech sciences) does not require it. Would it be wise to drop the class now (on the final day I can) or tough it out? If I drop the class I will only be taking ten credits (currently doing thirteen). Thanks!

Drop it if otherwise your GPA is strong.

You have to take two maths for core though (fundamentals and formal reasoning). Unless you had both of them taken care of? Or you can take another science in place of it? idk. Man that sucks you’re doing bad in math220 though, I had a great experience, even though I had already taken calc in high school. Who’s your professor?

I have Levermore and he’s a nice guy but very confusing and I have never ben good at math to begin with (last year took regular pre calc as a senior in high school). I have 2 As and 2 Bs otherwise and can just take a super easy math to fill the humanities requirement if I stay in the college.

There is no reason to keep taking that class. Drop it before the system goes offline.
A second math is not required, it’s just a core option.

You shouldn’t rule out business just because you’re doing poorly in calculus; however, do know that you would be taking accounting and statistics at some point so you would have to like math enough to do that. For Math 220, you could try retaking it next semester with Wyss-Gallifant, who is the highest rated teacher at UMD and apparently does a great job with 220.

Also, did you actually place into 220?

I placed into either 140 or 141, I don’t remember. But I’ve decided to just stick it out, and look up professors before I sign up for classes in the future xD
